Jason Kidd could be reunited with the Nets franchise by the end of the week as Kidd emerges as the top candidate to take over as Brooklyn's new head coach, according to multiple reports.
Contract talks are under way and Kidd is working to put together a coaching staff, according to Yahoo Sports! To hire Kidd, the Nets are reportedly looking to also add one or two assistant coaches with head coaching experience, including former Nets coach Lawrence Frank.
Kidd, 40, met with Nets GM Billy King on Monday and multiple sources tell the New York Post that there's mutual interest to make Kidd, who retired June 3 after a 19-year career, the replacement to former interim head coach P.J. Carlesimo.
Kidd, a 10-time All-Star and future Hall of Famer, was lauded this season for his strong veteran leadership as a backup point guard of the New York Knicks. While Kidd is considered the frontrunner, the Nets are also scheduled to interview Indiana Pacers associate coach Brian Shaw on Wednesday, according to reports.
