Alex Murphy is back as Robocop in the newest adaption of the 1987 film by director Paul Verhoeven. It maybe too early to tell but it looks like director Jose Padilha will go back to the roots of Robocop and start all over when Alex Murphy suffered fatal injuries and eventually underwent a major face lift to become the city’s robotic martyr. With a hand cannon and flurry of one liners this iconic hero’s revival starring Joel Kinnaman will be a refreshing blast from the past. The cast will also include Gary Oldman as Norton, Samuel L. Jackson as Pat Novak, Jay Baruchel, Abbie Cornish, and Jennifer Ehle. Here are some early images from pre-production.
This film looks like it will be the next big trilogy for iconic movie hero’s. With all the superhero movies that have come out in the past few years including the big box office debut of “The Avengers”, Padilha’s remake will recapture the attention of loyal fans of the old school thriller. In a futuristic take of Omni Corp’s advances in technological warfare there will an outstanding display of movie production due to Hollywood’s modern computer generated imagery. Come August 9, 2013 Robocop will likely transcend its action movie competition.
