Oklahoma City Thunder
Portland Trail Blazers
Editor’s Note: Guest writer Eddy Delsignore is back with a terrific piece about Jeff Green and how he fits into the Celtics. Delsignore uses some inside information and strong insight to really evaluate who Green is on the basketball court and whether or not our expectations for him are too high.
Let’s go back to around February 25, 2011. One of the most controversial trades in Celtics’ history has just taken place. Danny Ainge decides to trade Kendrick Perkins and Nate Robinson to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Jeff Green, Nenad Krstic, and draft considerations. Looking past that date to a few weeks later, rumors surface that OKC general manager Sam Presti had turned down Danny Ainge’s many attempts to land James Harden instead of Jeff Green in that deal, leading Ainge to settle for Green instead.
Obviously, at that point, it was not entirely clear that James Harden would be leading the NBA in scoring this year and emerge as a sure-fire franchise cornerstone and top-10 overall play...

After four games it’s fair to say that it’s time to stop making excuses for Jeff Green and start getting concerned. Following a preseason that featured a lot of this and got Celtics fans fairly excited, Jeff “comeback player of the year” Green has come crashing (brutally) back to earth. Through four games this season Jeff Green is averaging eight points and two rebounds...
Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
And nobody seemed to relish this fiesty, bad-boy side of Green more than Kevin Garnett.
“Jeff’s a really, really nice guy,” Garnett said. “Some nights, you just gotta be an asshole.”
And the turning point...
Imagine how you would feel if you returned to your locker room after (another) bad game, already pissed off, only to have a sea of reporters (most of whom will be writing bad things about you) shoving microphones into your face and asking to discuss how and why you’ve been not very good this year. The answer for Jeff Green is easy: Play better. But when he doesn’t play so well...
Celtics fans have been patiently awaiting the arrival of Jeff Green.
A potent scorer with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Green joined the Celtics in 2011 but missed all of last season with a heart ailment and has had trouble fitting into the flow of the Boston offense this season.
On Saturday night, though, he seemed to be doing better. As well as dropping in 12 points — eight of them...
Doc Rivers has never seemed like the kind of coach who is afraid to speak his mind. From candid between-quarter interviews (the same interviews that Greg Popovich uses to become an unholy terror to sideline reporters) to on-court interaction, Doc seems to be the kind of person who lets you know where you stand. Sounds like the kind of person you’d want to have coaching an underachieving...
Jeff Green: "Greatness takes time."

The Celtics dropped to 2-3 on the year with a loss to the young and athletic 76ers. This is a difficult one to gauge. Philly is a much better team than the Wizards and we did show heart in coming back and outplaying them in the second half. At the same time by me saying that last sentence it basically implies that the Celtics aren't a contender, at least thus far.
The usual complaints about the refs. Interesting that they still have the Celtics are old thing going there. I guess they haven't looked at the Celtics roster lately. For some reason the gif and exchange at the end really cracked me up. Enjoy today's comments....
Boston is old, old old. We have young legs to run.
If we can get out and run like pretty...
There’s been lots of chatter (too much actually) on the early season struggles of Jeff Green. While it’s far too early to make any significant judgments, especially with such small sample sizes, it’s always good to at least take a look into certain patterns or issues. Green is not the only new(ish) member of the Celtics that has been off to a slow start. Jason Terry had...
They were not quite tagging each other in and out on the sideline like professional wrestlers, but the Celtics shared the load on Saturday in a way they had not in the first two weeks of the season. With Paul Pierce leading the way, Kevin Garnett, Jason Terry, Jeff Green and Brandon Bass all assumed a bit of the scoring load down the stretch as the Celtics’ defense got a handful...

The Celtics mantra has and always will be "we got to grind it out." they have no choice, given how their season is going. It all boils down to trust and learning how to play in a different way.
Last year's role players were great defenders, but couldn't find the hoop when it mattered. That anemic Game Seven in the Eastern Conference Finals was oh so painful...
First of many, Let's do this.
Hey everyone, I know everybody has seen the popular "5 on 5" series on the ESPN website or "3 on 3" on the ESPN Boston website. Well this year, we are going to have our own, the CelticsLife 5-on-5.
The Boston Celtics are currently 1-2 and there has been cause for concern. I think the media is blowing things out of proportion...
