Found June 28, 2013 on Boston's Bettah:
Let’s forget about Kevin Garnett for a second. Had he (and he most certainly will) retired with ay other team other than the Boston Celtics, it would have been okay. As much as Garnett has become a part of Celtics lore and has embodied what it means to be a Celtic, he was never originally a Celtic. He came to help Paul Pierce win a title, just like Ray Allen did. Paul Pierce is where this story picks up because of the Big Three 2.0, he was the one that was supposed to be around long after the others departed. He was the next in a historical line of Celtic lifers. Our grandparents had Bill Russell and Hondo, our parents had Bird and McHale and we had Paul Pierce. For those in my age range, the college and recently college graduates, they have never known a Celtic team without Paul Pierce on it. He was the last of an old-style of athlete, one that a fan-base watched grow up and mature from a scrawny rookie to a leader and old-pro on a team that he would play his entire career for. Now that is over. Paul Pierce will likely retire as a Brooklyn Net. I should not be this calm. Paul Pierce is my Celtic. He is my favorite player and I have watched everything happen to his career. From the stabbings to the moodiness to his early outbursts to his buzzer beaters and into an old pro. So much of what I do on the basketball court was supposed to emulate what Pierce did because I wanted to despite the fact that I was an un-athletic kid. I did that weird free-throw he had for many years, tried to work the elbow step back into my game, and often just bury me head and try to get to the basket because that is what Paul Pierce did. He isn’t going to retire a Celtic. I should be devastated. But I’m not. Maybe because I know that the trade is going to help with the rebuilding process for the Boston Celtics. All the draft picks required should help the Celtics get back into the game by 2015 or 2016. In the grand scheme of things, that’s pretty good for a blow up. I also know that one of the greatest Boston athletes of all time, Bobby Orr, didn’t finish his career in Boston. He did so in Chicago and nobody remembers that. It is not unheard of for this to happen to an athlete. Above all, despite the fact my heart said they could, I knew in my head they couldn’t contend this season with the current roster. Despite the fact that the Celtics were devastated with injuries last year, it wasn’t going to get better when those players got healthy. And I know that Paul Pierce day will still happen one day and I will do whatever in my power to be there, because he is my Celtic and it would be a disservice not to be there. Goodbye Paul Pierce and thank you for everything.

How do Pierce & KG look as Brooklyn Nets?

Pic by RHurstDesigns. Curious to see if Garnett goes back to his #21 (similar to Ray going back to #34 with the Heat) or if he sticks with #5. My guess is he sticks with 5. Really hard to see Paul Pierce in another jersey. I hate the system in the NBA where you have to suck and root for losses in order to rebuild.
