Every season, a new member of the MLB fraternity welcomes himself to the big leagues and unexpectedly steals our heart. This guy remains a favorite for the duration of his career and someone we follow into the future while trying to remember his humble beginnings by doing a post about it on this blog.
This year, that guy is Yasiel Puig. Here are the top five moments (in our opinion) of his MLB career to date:
The outfield assist from the track to end the game in the MLB debut
Puig Homers twice in his 2nd big league game
Hit by pitch against the DiamondBacks – and the Brawl that ensued in LA
Opposite field Grand Slam, Scully: “I DON’T BELIEVE IT!”
First career four-hit game
He’s not an All-Star. He’s been banged up. He’s cooled off some. But in the second half, people are going to see how good this guy really is. That’s our prediction. We’re going to need to do a whole new list when the season ends.
BEST OF MAXIM
Yasiel Puig may not have been selected for the MLB All-Star Game, but he did manage to score an invitation to the Playboy Mansion on Monday night. The Los Angeles Dodgers rookie spent the first day of his All-Star break attending the 8th annual Bear Trap Entertainment (BTE) All-Star Celebrity Kickoff Party at the Playboy [...]
Last night, Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig
attempted to play through the hip injury that caused him to exit Thursday’s contest.
He was able to return to the Dodgers’ starting lineup, but he didn’t make it
past the fourth inning. Puig was removed after four frames, as he told
reporters – including Austin Laymance of MLB.com – that his hip was bothering
The best baseball players got rewarded for their hard work and talent by being asked to play baseball one more time in the All-Star Game.
Deserving players who just missed out on the honor are said to have been "snubbed," and they presumably kick the dirt with the toe of their shoe and stick out their bottom lip.
But not Yasiel Puig, the Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder...
The Yasiel Puig effect and the Dodgers recent hot streak are having an effect on Los Angeles' local ratings. Tuesday's Dodgers-Diamondbacks tilt, a game featuring the top two teams in the NL West, drew a 5.2 rating and 470,000 viewers on KCAL in Los Angeles, the highest on LA network since 2007. The game on Tuesday was also the Dodgers debut of new starting pitcher Ricky...
I would like to announce that I am calling a MLB fan-only meeting. I have to make a complaint about how the majority of us fans have become so enthralled in Puigmania that we have already decided that Yasiel Puig is the next best player based off of a minuscule sample of 151 at-bats.
Now, before any of you Puigmaniacs jump the gun once again on this article and skip down to...
Maybe what Yasiel Puig needs right now is a day off. He could
probably use it. His aching left hip â the one he
injured running into a wall July 3 at Colorado â
is still not fully recovered. A little rest probably wouldn't hurt.
Away from all of the excitement and attention directed toward Los Angeles Dodgers rookie outfielder Yasiel Puig, the St. Louis Cardinals have a rookie who has arguably had an even better start to his career.
Cardinals left-handed relief pitcher Kevin Siegrist appeared in his 13th career Major League Baseball game Friday against the Chicago Cubs and finally became like every other...
By now, we all now how this internet thing works. Juice up your post with SEO goodness, and then attach a click-baity headline that attracts eyeballs, whether it’s accurate or has anything to do with the story or not. This tactic is pretty much how Bleacher Report built its revenue monster. Now, it seems, more traditional outlets are getting in on the action. After Yoenis Cespedes...
Matt Kemp is injured and on the disabled list yet again, as he’s suffering from irritation in the AC joint of his re-built left shoulder.
Matt Kemp’s lost season took another bad turn on Monday, as the Dodgers center fielder was placed on the 15-day disabled list with left shoulder AC joint inflammation. The move is retroactive to Saturday, one day after Kemp irritated the AC...
Zack Greinke retired his first 13 batters before finishing with a two-hitter for a win in his fifth straight start and leading the Los Angeles Dodgers over the Colorado Rockies 1-0 on Saturday.
The Dodgers won for the 14th time in 17 games, despite the absence of rookie outfielder Yasiel Puig, who missed his first game since his promotion on June 3 because of a sore left hip. He...
Yasiel Puig seems to have taken to capitalism like a duck to water.
Remember that just 14 months ago, the young Dodgers phenom was still in Cuba, planning to defect to the United States. However, now the 22-year-old is bona fide celebrity in America, and suffice it to say that’s a significantly different lifestyle than living under a Communist dictatorship.
As you may have heard...
Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez has been cleared by the U.S. Treasury Department and is free to sign a contract with any Major League Baseball team. The 26-year0-old Cuban is right handed and had roughly 45 scouts show up to a recent throwing session.
#Cuba RHP Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez has been cleared by US govt. (OFAC) & is free to sign with MLB club. Deal could happen this week or...
The Los Angeles Dodgers have been on some kind of roll over the past 20 games with a record of 16-4. The team is looking to get healthy and make a run into the postseason. Manager Don Mattingly answered questions about injuries and the team today before Photo Day at Dodgers Stadium.
“Just a little over a week ago we were talking about having four outfielders and now we only have...

Mike Trout - Yasiel Puig made his debut on June 3rd and posted a .391/.422/.616 slash line. Over that same span Mike Trout has gone for .367/.448/.597. That is an OPS by Trout that is seven points greater than Puig in a tougher run environment plus elite...
