DALLAS (FWAA) – UCLA outside linebacker Anthony Barr has been named the FWAA/Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week for games of the weekend of Sept. 14. Barr was the star of the Bruins’ defense in a 41-21 come-from-behind victory at Nebraska. He posted a career-high 11 tackles, including two for losses. The Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week forced three fumbles as the Bruins held Nebraska scoreless for the game’s final 37 minutes and to just 128 yards rushing on 42 attempts. The 6-4, 248-pound senior from San Pedro, Calif., has been added to the 2013 Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List. Five finalists for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy will be announced by the Football Writers Association of America on Nov. 21.
