Found May 02, 2013 on PenguinPoop:
James Neal was viciously slashed by NY Islanders defenseman Travis Hamonic during a Penguins 5 on 3 powerplay in the second period of Wednesday night’s playoff game.  While it is being speculated that Neal had a lower body injury after a clean check by Hamonic, you can clearly see in the first video that it is Neal’s right hand that is being checked on the bench. Neal went to the locker room immediately afterwards and did not return. Neal has scored more goals than any other Penguins player over the last two seasons. © Doug MacRay for Pittsburgh Penguins - PenguinPoop Blog, 2013. | No comments |

Pittsburgh Penguins: Too Many Players, So Little Time

Sidney Crosby worked out with the Penguins conditioning coach and left the ice before the Penguins started their practice this morning. Odds are Crosby will not be playing tonight.  Coach Bylsma usually has the players attend the regular practice if they are playing, though he could make an exception for Crosby. While it is up in the air whether he will be in the lineup for the...

Sidney Crosby Out in Game 1

Pittsburgh Penguins Captain Sidney Crosby will miss game one of the Stanley Cup Playoffs tonight. Crosby, who took a puck to the face in late March, was sidelined throughout the month of April. Though he has been cleared to practice with the team, he needs an additional clearance for game play. The rest of the [...]

Beau Bennett scores on a ridiculous shot from bad angle

The Pittsburgh Penguins completely and utterly dominated the New York Islanders in game one of their Stanley Cup Playoff series, winning 5-0.  Beau Bennett got things started early on the power play less than five minutes into the game by beating Evgeni Nabokov with this ridiculous shot.  Nabokov had literally no chance, this is one of the most perfect shots I’ve ever seen.  To...

Sidney Crosby buries goal three minutes into return from broken jaw

In his first game back from a broken jaw, Pittsburgh Penguins superstar Sidney Crosby buried a goal against the New York Islanders.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are one of the most-watched teams in America

The Pittsburgh Penguins are one of the most-watched teams in America. While the previous sentence might sound like some form of nonsensical gloating you might hear from a sports fan, it's actually pretty accurate according to a recent article from Sports Business Daily.  The report states that prior to their final few games of 2013 the Penguins were on pace to post the highest...

Sidney Crosby Returning for Game 2 Against Islanders

PITTSBURGH — It’s game on for Sidney Crosby. The Penguins’ star says he will play Friday night in Game 2 of the playoff series with the New York Islanders after missing more than a month with a broken jaw. Crosby skated with usual linemates Pascal Dupuis and Chris Kuntiz on Friday morning and expects to be in the lineup as Pittsburgh tries to go up 2-0 in the best-of-seven...

Penguins set tone with 5-0 romp over Islanders

The rookie scored. So did the enforcer. The Norris Trophy-candidate defenseman too. And the underrated forward in the midst of a career season did it twice. Not bad for a team missing arguably the best player on the planet. The Pittsburgh Penguins crushed the New York Islanders 5-0 in their playoff opener on Wednesday night, looking very much like a Stanley Cup contender even with...

Off and running: Pens dominate Isles in 5-0 win

What a difference a year makes. The Penguins got out to a 3-0 lead and, instead of losing in overtime as they did in Game 1 last year agains the Flyers, they added two more goals and defeated the New York Islanders 5-0 to take a 1-0 series lead. The shoddy defense and poor goaltending that led to the demise of the Penguins cup run last year was nonexistent. The Penguins shutout the...

Dusting off the crystal ball

Michael St. Croix (Edmonton Oil Kings) Over the years covering the New York Ranger prospects, there has been one thing that Gordie Clark and his scouts have somehow keyed on and that is selecting players from winning teams. It makes sense when you stop to think about it as players who come from winning teams already have the mindset where they expect to win. Last year Ranger...

Dee Karl: "It's Going To Hurt a Little Bit" - Readying for Game 2

"It's going to hurt a little bit." John Tavares told Greg Picker and the other reporters today about what it will take to win a game, Friday's game. Because no one wants to repeat their 5 - 0 loss from Wednesday. Capuano said they didn't play like the same team that had been putting up points the past few weeks. They didn't.
