MINNEAPOLIS -- For one week, the Minnesota Vikings offense got healthy and the Detroit Lions' drive back to relevance was stopped. In a 34-24 win at Mall of America Field, Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder silenced the boos and running back Adrian Peterson continued to hear the cheers as Minnesota (6-3) broke a two-game losing streak. Despite some determined second-half heroics by quarterback Matthew Stafford, the Lions dropped to 4-5 in an important NFC North matchup. It gave the Vikings the season sweep of the Lions. Ponder completed 24 of 32 passes for 221 yards and two TDs with no interceptions. Peterson ran 27 times for 171 yards -- his fourth straight 100-yard game -- including a brilliant 61-yard run for a score that gave the Vikings a 31-17 lead with 8:06 left in the game. Stafford started slowly, but finished fast, completing 28 of 42 passes for 329 yards -- 207 of which went to receiver Calvin Johnson on 12 catches. It was Johnson's third career 200-yar...

Evaluating Ponder must be Vikings No. 1 goal

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. Christian Ponder arrived at the Metrodome for the Minnesota Vikings' game Sunday against the Detroit Lions in the kind of slump that would perplex even the most veteran quarterbacks. Ponder, though, isn't a veteran -- far from it. He was making his 20th NFL start and likely was prepared for criticism from home fans if he got off to another sluggish start...

PJD's Game Ten Recap: Lions Lose King of Jungle Crown

Detroit Brought Lions, I Brought Crow: And it's not bad, really. You just have to char it a bit. It's kind of stringy, but that's all. And I'm not eating ALL of the crow, because despite the fact that the Vikings won on Sunday, it doesn't mean that they DOMINATED. All it means is that Purple Jesus saved their ass once again (171 yards and a TD?!), and they got...
