I've been trying to erase the past week from my mind, but for whatever reason, it just won't go away. The harsh reality of the situation is that so many things have gone wrong for the Dodgers over that time span that it's hard not to get at least a bit emotionally frustrated as a fan.

I've noticed that the recent struggles have led even the more levelheaded commenters on this site to act as if they were ready to fall on a sword in the first inning. With the way things have been going lately, I can't say I blame them.

After the first inning run scoring double against Randy Wolf, I got a text message from my dad that was simple enough. It read:
Game over.
My response? "Yup."

Don't get me wrong, i'm still thinking big picture, but I can't help but get angered in the moment like everybody else. For example, I got to a point yesterday where I lamented the fact that Manny Ramirez was up in a key situation instead of Andre Ethier or Matt Kemp. It was perhaps an irrational thought, but he didn't exactly restore my faith with his Golden Sombrero either.

Point being, we're all human, and I understand the anger at the time, but it's how you deal with your thoughts after you've had time to dwell on them that seperates the emotional mess of a fan from those who are able to keep their head.

To give a little context to the Dodgers struggles, try to remember that unless a fan's team is playing perfectly going into October, they usually think their favorite squad is headed for disaster.

Yesterday, I had a conversation with a friend who is a huge Cardinals fan, and the first thing he mentioned was how bad the Cardinals were. It went something like this:
"Dude, the Cardinals are terrible. We're gonna get swept by the Dodgers in the first round. Congrats, because I quit."

"Have you watched the Dodgers play recently?

"Doesn't matter, the Cardinals made those trades for nothing, they are terrible."

"Hahaha. Watch the Dodgers with me today, we'll probably get shutout."
After a few hours of watching the Dodgers flail away against Ubaldo Jimenez, he ended up changing his tune a bit.
"I guess we both cheer for ****** teams. Should be a good series at least. Hahaha."
Indeed.
