Sandy Alderson indicated to reporters that Zack Wheeler did see a doctor after complaining of shoulder stiffness last week, . The exam came at the stadium from the doctor on duty, not via a special trip to the Hospital for Special Surgery. The Mets were satisfied Wheeler does not have an injury, so the rookie was not sent for an MRI. Wheeler has been shut down for the season. Tonight would have been Wheeler’s originally scheduled start, Aaron Harang has replaced him in the rotation.
