Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after an evening in the pub. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were drinking.
The Padres dropped a close one to the Atlanta Braves, 2-1. Robbie Erlin pitched alright, giving up just 2 runs on 8 hits and a walk over 6 innings. But Kris Medlen pitched better, shutting the Padres out for 7 1/3 innings with 4 hits and 2 walks.
Will Venable and Chris Denorfia made outstanding defensive plays in the outfield. And in the ninth inning Chase Headley hit his second solo home run in as many nights.
But never mind that s**t. In the least surprising news department, Mark Kotsay announced his retirement, effective at the end of the season. How will the Padres replace the veteran leadership that a player of Kotsay’s stature brings?*
