Carlos Trinidad-Snake Ready to Proclaim His Case for a Shot at a Title

Carlos Trinidad-Snake dabbled in mixed martial arts at one point. But Trinidad-Snake may want to stay out of the cage and keep a focus on bare-knuckle boxing. Online boxing news shows that Trinidad-Snake has flourished in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship’s welterweight division.

Trinidad-Snake, who will headline BKFC Fight Night Omaha, has reeled off four straight wins since joining the organization. It was his last performance that really stood out. Trinidad-Snake went the distance with fifth-ranked Elvin Brito to pick up a decision win and improve to 4-0.

Trinidad-Snake is now preparing to take on UFC veteran Dustin Pague. Pague competed on Season 14 of The Ultimate Fighter and had an MMA career that featured more valleys than peaks. While competing in three different weight divisions, Pague compiled a 12-11 record.

However, Pague’s first love may have been boxing. He picked up the sport in high school and later became interested in MMA when he made it to college. Pague seems to have improved from his first appearance in the BKFC. He lost his first fight in 2021 against Jake Young after being disqualified for illegal ground strikes.

However, Pague has quickly improved. He’s picked up three straight wins, including two by knockout. Pague won’t make this fight easy for Trinidad-Snake. If he wants to get a chance to fight welterweight champion Austin Trout, he will need to wow with this performance.

Trinidad-Snake has still occasionally moonlighted as a MMA fighter. He is 2-0 as a professional fighter. Trinidad-Snake was also active as an amateur fighter, taking on 20 fights before turning professional. He isn’t someone who is afraid to engage in combat. That will be important when going up against a fighter like Pague, who has been in nearly every situation a fighter of his experience can be.

Jeremie Holloway Ready for Next Test

Jeremie Holloway can be more relaxed in the boxing ring than he ever was in the cage. Anyone looking at MMA latest updates will see that Holloway’s biggest fear was being taken down. During Holloway’s MMA career, he compiled a 10-6 record and was submitted four times.

Holloway is 1-0-1 so far in the BKFC. His middleweight fight this weekend against Dakota Cochrane will be another good test. Cochrane, who is ranked fourth, has dug himself out of a two-fight losing streak by collecting consecutive wins.

Cochrane is another former MMA fighter who has found second life in BKFC. With Cochrane’s extra experience, this is a good spot for the veteran fighter to pick up a third straight winner.

Alonzo Martinez Seeks to Keep Up Hot Start

Alonzo Martinez has shown an interesting change in how his success in fights has come. During Martinez’s lengthy MMA career, where he compiled a 47-23-1 record, he was primarily known as more of a grappler. He picked up over 20 wins by submission.

Boxing updates tonight show that Martinez, if he continues fighting at the same level, may finish with more knockouts in BKFC than he did in MMA. Martinez is 3-0 in the BKFC and has won two of those three fights by knockout.

Stanislav Grosu will be the one to try and halt Martinez’s winning streak. Grosu, who is from Moldova originally but now lives in Virginia, has been up and down so far in his BKFC career. He is 3-3 in the promotion according to the boxing update today.

Taylor Looks to Protect His Spot

Rankings aren’t a static proposition in combat sports. Every time a fighter steps into the ring, there is a lot at stake. Bobby Taylor, who is ranked No. 5 at lightweight, will be under pressure to defend his spot against Ryan Roberts. Taylor took a difficult loss last time out when he lost to James Lilley.

Taylor will now attempt to defend his ranking against Roberts. Roberts had a respectable 21-12-1 record during his MMA career. He was able to come into the BKFC with a splash when he knocked out Jorge Gonzalez in the second round.

This should be a fun collision between two strong strikers. Roberts will lean on his experience to pick up a win over a ranked fighter. Taylor has more experience in BKFC, but Roberts may have the superior power. Either way, the judges shouldn’t need to get involved with this battle.

McIntosh Looks for Home-Ring Advantage

Corey McIntosh will be comfortable for his fight with Ryan Braun this weekend. McIntosh doesn’t live far from Omaha. With not having to travel far for the fight and being able to lean on a strong boxing background, McIntosh would like to make a splash during his cruiserweight debut.

Braun is a long-time MMA fighter who struggled to find success in the cage. Braun was 13-16 while fighting for various MMA promotions. It’s not a resume that would seem to lend itself to success in the BKFC.

However, Braun has shown that he is capable of more than what he showed in the cage. During Braun’s first two fights in the BKFC, it only took him 1 minute and 44 seconds to dispose of both opponents. Braun has shown a strong penchant for the knockout. McIntosh, 39, has a 3-1 record in professional gloved boxing matches.

It’s hard to know what McIntosh will bring to the table and it’s better to bet on this fight to end inside the distance.
