Danny Garcia (23-0, 14 KOs) became the new WBC junior welterweight champ with a unanimous decision victory over Erik Morales (52-8, 36 KOs), who lost the belt on the scales yesterday and was left fighting only for pride and the paycheck. The Judges' scores were: 117-110, 116-112, 118-109.
In the co-feature, James Kirkland (31-1, 27 KOs), trailing on two of the three judges' scorecards, scored a controversial DQ 10 victory over upset-minded Carlos Molina (19-5-2, 6 KOs).
The Molina disqualification came following a knockdown suffered at the end of the tenth when Molina's corner stepped into the ring prior to official end of the round.
