Amir Khan and Lamont Peterson’s rematch has been scheduled to take place in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay on 19 May. The rematch was ordered by the WBA after their controversial bout in Washington ended in favour of Peterson last year in which Khan lost IBF and WBA light-welterweight titles.
With about two months to go for the bout, already a battle of words have began between the boxers. The British boxer from Bolton said he will beat Peterson “convincingly”, saying Peterson will not perform anything more that what he did in their first fight.
Such a comment has prompted Peterson to call Khan arrogant, warning him that he ignores what happened last year to his own detriment.
“I won’t say the same about him,” said Peterson. “I expect him to fight a better fight but, at the same time, I know I’m going to be better.
“He can overlook what happened in DC all he wants. It’s only going to hurt him to think that way, not me. So I’m glad he thinks that way.”
