If you haven’t boycotted big-time boxing like I have and are looking for a reason to do so, here you have it. By now you’ve heard about Manny Pacquiao losing in a split-decision to Timothy Bradley late Saturday night. From all accounts (except two judges), Pacquiao was the clear winner. But, that’s why the judges are there – to fix decide the fight. But, the decision shouldn’t have been a surprise really to those that follow Timothy Bradley on Twitter (The Big Lead does). On May 29, 11 days before the fight, Bradley tweeted out a picture of a poster that was created announcing a Bradley-Pacquiao rematch. It had the date (November 10, 2012) and everything. Tickets were supposed to be made available today. So how did this happen? A money-grubbing promoter, Bob Arum, is behind it. He’s the promoter for both ManPac and Bradley. So of course it’s in his best interest to pay off judges to call some garbage split-decision so he can suck people back into a rematch. Arum even put on an acting job after the fight claiming that he had Pacquiao ten rounds to two. Arum even told Yahoo! Sports Kevin Iole, ““This is a death knell for boxing, and I’m going to make a ton of money on the rematch.” According to Floyd Mayweather, Arum is the reason why a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight hasn’t happened. Mayweather claims that Arum wants too much of the purse. Suddenly that seems incredibly believable. And to add to the theatrics, Bradley (who won the fight mind you) came out to answer post-fight questions in a wheelchair. It’s officially the Ringling Bros. and Arum & Bailey Circus. Arum didn’t get any of our cash for ManPac-TimBrad 1 and he certainly won’t get any for ManPac-TimBrad 2.
