DURHAM, NC -- Mason Plumlee is having fun these days. The 6-foot-10 Duke center has always enjoyed playing basketball, but his final season in college recently began, and the Blue Devils have easily collected the most impressive victories of the young season to date. And Plumlee is ecstatic. In the last two weeks, Duke has beaten two No. 2 teams in Kentucky and Louisville on neutral floors, and Wednesday night at Cameron Indoor Stadium, the Devils knocked off No. 4 Ohio State, 73-68, in the ACCBig Ten Challenge. If this was college football, a heated argument over whos No. 1 would have already commenced, and the second-ranked Devils would get most of the love. We love it, Plumlee said when asked about Dukes early success against such a daunting slate that also includes neutral site wins over VCU and unbeaten Minnesota. The schedule at Duke is part of the reason you come to Duke, and I think this team embraced the schedule and the challenges weve had. But this is college basketba...

College Basketball 10 teams that could improve or falter in March

Teams that could falter come tournament time Duke- They’ve been phenomenal so far this season and have already won three games against top five opponents, but I’ve noticed something very disturbing about this team- they have no bench. Their starting line-up displays the perfect blend of youth and experience and has proven they can beat anyone, but as the year goes on players...

Duke's Mason Plumlee flushes alley-oop dunk

I am loathe to ever write anything positive about Duke basketball, but credit needs to be given where it’s due. On Wednesday night senior Mason Plumlee took an alley-oop pass from sophomore guard Quinn Cook and threw it down with authority. The above video shows just how insane a dunk it was. I mean wow. No. 2 Duke ended up beating No. 4 Ohio State 73-68, and Plumlee’s dunk was...

Ryan Kelly scored 15 of his 18 points in the decisive first half and No. 2 Duke routed Delaware 88-50 on Saturday. Mason Plumlee added 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Blue Devils (8-0). They never trailed, shot 52 percent, led by 46 and enjoyed a rare breather after a challenging run of games against nationally ranked opponents. Seth Curry, the other scholarship senior on the...

Duke valiant in come back victory over Ohio State, 73-68

A year removed from a 22-point defeat at the hands of Ohio State, the No. 2 Duke Blue Devils had this season’s rematch heavily circled on this season’s calender. Trailing for the majority of the contest, Duke was able to rally behind much improved play from their backcourt in the second half, another double-double performance from Mason Plumlee and two key outside shots from...
