Miami Hurricanes junior guard Durand Scott must sit out five more games before returning to action, meaning he'll miss Wednesday night's National Invitation Tournament game against Valparaiso.
The ruling by the NCAA, announced hours before tipoff, came after Scott was declared ineligible last week for receiving impermissible benefits. Scott, Miami's leading scorer, missed Friday's loss to Florida State in the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament.
The NCAA ruled Scott must sit out six games, including the Florida State and Valparaiso games. That means he'll likely be sidelined for the start of next season.
Scott also must pay to charity the value of the received benefits, which took place before the arrival of the current coaching staff, the school said.
