Wednesday the University of Illinois announced the schedule for the 2013-2014 season. The Illinois basketball team will play 18 games at the newly named, State Farm Center, 14 against opponents that played in the NCAA tournament last year.    This year with Coach Groce’s new team and system, the Illini should have no problem ending the regular season with a strong record. After the classic Orange & Blue scrimmage, the Illini will open the season against McKendree University. With the first 7 games all being home games, this should allow the Illini to heat up quickly and gain confidence and momentum for the tough Big Ten Conference. The Illini wont see a Big Ten team until the end of December, when they face off against a talented Indiana team. After that, the Illini will play 17 consecutive Big Ten games. This is when we will see how talented the Illini are and what they are truly made of. In a recent article of mine, I declared the Big Ten one of the best conferences in the NCAA. December will prove why. The Illini will also face a few instate teams, The University of Illinois at Chicago will be one of them. The teams are contracted to play at least 1 game every 3 years in Chicago. The teams will battle at the legendary United Center on December 28th at 1 pm. If you’ve never seen an Illini game live, this year if any, is the year to do so. The intensity is here this year and the competition is better than ever. Not only will you be enjoying great games but you will also be making history. This will be the first season fans will be able to say they attended a game at the one and only State Farm Center and the sea of orange will be in full affect.    If you have not yet purchased your tickets there is no need to worry…yet. Banner-level season tickets are available for $199 but you have to act fast with less than 200 remaining in that area. Student tickets are on sale now and single ticket games will go on sale Oct. 22 at 9 a.m. University Of Illinois Basketball
