Michigan Basketball (9-0) will host the Binghamton Bearcats on Tuesday night at Crisler Center. Tip is scheduled for 7:00pm and the game will be televised on the Big Ten Network. Binghamton is a member of the American East conference and they head to Ann Arbor with a 2-8 record. The Bearcats simply aren’t good. They average 60.5 points per game which ranks 298th in the country. As a team, they shoot just 39.4% from the field, which ranks 299th in the country. Their leading scorer is freshman guard Jordan Reed, who averages 18.3 points and 9.9 rebounds per game. This is exactly the kind of team you schedule between games against Arkansas and West Virginia, who Michigan plays on Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Michigan cruised past Arkansas on Saturday to improve to 9-0 for the first time since 1988-89, and we all know how that season ended. The game against the Razorbacks was another demonstration of how balanced the Wolverines are. Michigan had 5 players reach double-digits in scoring and 5 different players connected from three-point range. Jordan Morgan posted a double-double, 12 points and 10 boards, for the second time in the last 3 games. Tim Hardaway Jr. finished one rebound shy of joining Morgan with a double-double, he ended up with 14 points and 9 boards. This is easily the deepest, most diverse, and most talented team that John Beilein has had at Michigan. The beauty of it is that this team is very unselfish and they truly do value team goals over individual achievements. “Everybody’s got a role,” Morgan said after the Arkansas game. “You just do your job and worry about winning. All individual goals are achieved through team success. Finish and get as many rebounds as I can. That’s pretty much my job description.” For the first time in his Michigan career, Morgan has help in the paint. Freshman Mitch McGary is getting better every game. He is now averaging 5.7 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. For a man of his size, 6-10, 250, he is very athletic. In the last 3 games, McGary is 9-13 from the field with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Jon Horford is finally healthy and gives the Wolverines another 6-10, 250 pounder of the bench. Against Arkansas he played 10 inspired minutes and racked up 4 rebounds and 3 blocked shots. Michigan enters the game against Binghamton ranked 3rd in the country in both polls and should steamroll the Bearcats with their superior talent. This game will also give John Beilein another chance to tinker with his rotation. Stats Michigan is shooting 51.5% from the field which ranks 4th nationally. The Wolverines are 42.1% from three-point range which ranks 8th nationally. Trey Burke leads the Big Ten and ranks 8th in the country in assists with 7.1 per game. Nik Stauskas leads the country in three-point percentage. He is shooting 60.5% from beyond the arc.* Michigan averages just 10.1 turnovers per game which ranks them 8th in the country in fewest turnovers. Michigan commits 12.4 fouls per game which ranks them 4th in the country for fewest fouls per game. Michigan ranks 3rd in the Big Ten in rebounding margin (+10.2) Trey Burke (16.9) and Tim Hardaway Jr. (15.4) rank 3rd and 4th in the Big Ten in scoring. Jordan Morgan ranks 6th in the Big Ten in field goal percentage (62.2%). Predictions: So far this season Joe and I are both 9-0 predicting the outcome of Michigan Basketball games. We both like Michigan to roll to an easy victory in this one.
