Via NESN:
Louisville coach Rick Pitino was in fine spirits after his Cardinals dismantled the University of Missouri-Kansas City 99-47 on Saturday.
He was in such a good mood, in fact, that he didn’t get irritated when a reporter’s phone went off during his postgame news conference. Instead, he stopped talking about the virtues of humility and took the call himself.
Pitino had a nice chat with the woman on the other end, listening to her request to meet for a drink at Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse. Pitino politely declined the offer, saying he had to go recruiting, then handed the phone to its owner.
Winning does strange things, even to the often-prickly Pitino.
