Junior forward Ethan Wragge was 6 of 9 from 3-point range for his 18 points to lead No. 16 Creighton to a 79-72 victory over Illinois State on Wednesday night. Grant Gibbs had 16 points for the Bluejays (13-1, 2-0 Missouri Valley Conference), while leading scoring Doug McDermott (23.5 points per game) finished with 15 points and nine rebounds. The 6-foot-7 Wragge made his four attempts from beyond the arc. Tyler Brown and Bryant Allen each scored 15 points to lead the Redbirds,(9-5, 0-2). Creighton led 42-39 at halftime, although Illinois State mounted a furious run that culminated with a 3-pointer by Nick Zeisloft with 2 seconds left to make it a three-point game. The teams combined for 26 3-pointers in the game, 17 in the first half.
