Let’s be honest – we all pegged Kansas coach Bill Self as the kind of guy who enjoys teenage comedies. Heck, he apparently enjoys one – Old School – so much that he’s had the KU basketball team lampoon the famous “cinderblock” frat-pledging scene. Thankfully, he didn’t use the same props:
Here’s the movie version, for comparison.
I’ll admit – it’s interesting to watch Self diss every single one of his new players, including Andrew Wiggins. KU fans – what do you think? Funny or weird?

Bill Self dressed up as the one and only Ron Burgundy of Anchorman - complete with a mustache - to help get the party started on the Jayhawks’ 2013-14 season.
University of Kansas head basketball coach Bill Self starred in this hilarious parody of Ron Burgundy from the movie ‘Anchorman.’ In front of a packed Allen Field House on Kansas’ “Late Night in the Phog,” Bill Self and his team put on a show to introduce the basketballseason as they often do. Self’s acting wasn’t too shabby.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- All these years later, Norm Stewart considers himself fortunate to have survived.
The longtime Missouri coach collapsed on a team plane bound for Oklahoma in 1989, and was diagnosed with colon cancer. He missed the final 14 games that season, at a time when so little was known about cancer that "there was a lot of guesswork going on," Stewart said....
Kansas phenom Andrew Wiggins has yet to step foot on the floor for an actual college basketball game, but the expectations in Lawrence are through the roof for the kid. And while it seems that the hype surrounding Wiggins is already sky high, the truth is probably that this is only the beginning. In fact, Wiggins is already about to accomplish a major goal of many athletes in the...
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Flash after flash went off inside Municipal Auditorium, and Bill Self reached out with that warm Bill Self handshake and that warm Bill Self smile. Frank Haith smiled back, and there it was:
The closest we'll get to a Kansas and Missouri meeting on a basketball court anytime soon.
"I really don't like Bill at all," Haith, the Tigers' men...
At midnight last Saturday morning in Lawrence, Kansas, a tradition as prestigious as they come took place. Most sites have already noted that Kansas did a nice parody of Old School at their Late Night festivities, borrowing long time radio broadcaster Max Falkenstein to play Blue.
But even better than that, in my opinion, was Bill Self's imitation of Ron Burgundy of Anchorman fame. Self reenacted, so to speak, the intro to the popular comedy where Will Ferrell practices saying...
Friday was Kansas’ “Late Night in the Phog,” the Jayhawks version of midnight madness. Allen Fieldhouse was jam packed, and the basketball team did not disappoint. The team put together a dance routine to Justin Timberlake’s Suit and Tie, complete with Andrew Wiggins hitting a nice dougie during his dance solo, and an awesome Anchorman parody with head coach Bill Self playing...
The Kansas Jayhawks basketball team is a perennial powerhouse when it comes to the hardcourt. They’ve won nine straight regular season Big 12 champions, have appeared in every single NCAA tournament since 1990 and have won three national championships. But there is something noticeably missing; an awesome parody video featuring the team. Well they can finally check that off the...
