Welcome to The Sports Bank 77 in 77. We’re previewing one team a day everyday as the college football season approaches. And we’re doing it in rapid fire sequence. Today, the Arkansas Razorbacks

2011 was: a banner year in school history. 11 wins including the Cotton Bowl. The Razorbacks were 21-5 over the past two years, but now the offseason, off the field stuff is costing them their coach Bobby Petrino. The Harley ride with mistress Jessica Dorrell was the second worst scandal in college football. Obviously Jerry Sandusky and Penn State was much worse. Now John L. Smith takes over at Arkansas.

2012 will go smoothly if:  the offense is simply theoffense, as they were 15th in the nation in scoring in last season. Tyler Wilson is a stud QB, and they get RB Knile Davis back from injury who missed all of 2011. Expect them to be displaying plenty of firepower

2012 will be rough if: there’s more questions in the play-calling which was Petrino’s specialty. Now on D, there’s going to be question marks about situations. They’ll need helping out at the defensive coordinator position.

BMOC: all the dudes I mentioned plus Alonzo Highsmith Jr. who needs to be the leader on defense. The linebacker is probably the teams best player.

All Name team: DE Taiwan Johnson, ILB Tenarius Wright, WR Maudrecus Humphrey

Bottom Line: 9-11 wins looks likely. They might be deserving of more, but it all depends on if they stay healthy at the positions where they have little depth. There’s going to be a step down from last year, probably. How much? depends on what John L. Smith has left in the tank. They get LSU and Alabama at home; which helps
