Welcome to The Sports Bank 77 in 77. We’re previewing one team a day everyday as the college football season approaches. And we’re doing it in rapid fire sequence. Today, the TCU Horned Frogs

Go here for the TCU college basketball season preview

2011 was: a banner year in school history. However, they fell well short of a BCS game.  Their offense was phenomenal, top ten in scoring. The Horned Frogs lost twice, to SMU and Baylor, but otherwise took care of business with an 11 win season. Casey Pachall, who took over for Andy Dalton, only set a school record for passing yards in a season. Not bad!

2012 will go smoothly if:  Pachall is something to hang your hat on, but there isn’t much starting experience returning at offensive line or WR. But the D returns 5 starters and last year was a reload, this year they’re more seasoned- like LAWRY’S!

2012 will be rough if: the three new starters on the OL don’t gel and the Horney Frogs don’t adjust well to life in the big power conference every week.

BMOC: DE Stansly Maponga, RB Waymon James, WR Josh Boyce

All Name team: WR LaDarius Brown, CB Travoskey Garrett

Bottom Line: 9-11 wins looks likely. They might be deserving of more, but it all depends on if they stay healthy at the positions where they have little depth. In the ever changing world of college conferences, the TCU Horned Frogs make the leap from the Mountain West Conference to the Big 12.  They were originally supposed to head to the Big East but instead decided to stay in a more regional-friendly conference when the Big 12 lost Missouri and Texas A&M to the SEC.  It will certainly be an uphill climb for TCU
