Found August 31, 2013 on The Majors Ann Arbor:
The 2013 Michigan football season is finally upon us as the Wolverines kick things off this afternoon against in-state MAC opponent Central Michigan. In some aspects is a big year for Brady Hoke and his squad as the third year Michigan head coach looks to take that next step in the division and conference. Hoke has appeared to turn out as a master recruiter and looks to of finally erased any aspects of Rich Rod’s old spread offense, especially with the departure of quarterback/wide receiver/running back Denard Robinson. But a lot Michigan’s success this year will be determined with the schedule at hand so let’s take a look at their 2013 rundown starting with today’s game against the Chips. Saturday, August 31: vs. Central Michigan (3:30PM ET, BTN) This isn’t the same Central Michigan team that found themselves in the top 25 a few short years ago. And even if it was this current Wolverines team would still manage a comfortable victory. Look for the Wolverines to dominate the first ha...

Students busted for smoking pot on the Big House turf

After the time honored college tradition of watching Dazed and Confused (I’m guessing), a few of kids attending the University of Michigan decided,”Hey, let’s get high in the Big House!” When the cops arrived, they weren’t sure how to react; they’d never seen people so excited in the stadium. The students would’ve got away, but they were actually louder than the crowds...

A Commentary: Why I Believe in MICHIGAN

There are so many reasons why I believe in MICHIGAN. THE COACHING STAFF  Brady Hoke is the right man for the job. He loves MICHIGAN!. He understands what it takes to be a MICHIGAN man. He embraces the job. Hoke also knows that you need a great defense to bring home a championship. I have told anybody who will listen that before Hoke leaves MICHIGAN he will bring a national championship...

Brian Kelly returns fire at Brady Hoke, ND vs UM gets spicier

Notre Dame Coach Brian Kelly made comments slighting Michigan today. They were on par with the derisive comments made by Wolverines Coach  Brady Hoke in May. It wasn’t a direct retaliation by any means. However, on paper it looks like a measured response to Hoke shooting his mouth off four months ago. The last scheduled Notre Dame visit to Michigan Stadium is Saturday night. It...

In Hoke We Trust

It’s Saturday morning in Ohio (yes I live in that state; it pays the bills), there is dew on the ground and I’ve just finished my first cup of Joe.  As I peer out the windows of the Love Shack, there is only one thing on my mind.  How are we going to beat Ohio this year?  No actually, I’m wondering how good 134 is really going to be. I hear the rhetoric coming from Mecca...

Hoke: Positives & negatives in win over CMU

Michigan coach Brady Hoke discusses the play of his Wolverines after a 59-9 win over Central Michigan Saturday and looks forward to the primetime match-up with Notre Dame in Ann Arbor (VIDEO included).

Thomas Gordon Suspended for the Opener

Via UM press release: Michigan football head coach Brady Hoke announced Saturday (Aug. 31) that senior safety Thomas Gordon will serve a one-game suspension to open the 2013 season for a violation of team rules."It is important that our 115 sons represent this university and program to the high standards we hold," said Hoke. "But at times, like in society, our...

Hype-hype hooray! Here comes UM-ND

Michigan won handily. Notre Dame did, too. And as Brady Hoke spoke at dusk on the first Saturday of college football, their confrontation beneath the lights loomed almost exactly one week in the distance. "I didn't really think about it until we were done, in the locker room," the Michigan head coach said after his team's 59-9 thrashing of Central Michigan. "...

2013 Michigan Thoughts

Hello Hokeamaniacs! It’s that time of year once again. Every August around this time we all get a little happier. This year is not different. Why? It’s Michigan football time again! And for now, here are my early thoughts of Team 134 and what we “fans” should expect for Michigan 2013. The good is apparent in all fans eyes this year. With a talented and deep team Michigan...

Kelly: Michigan not one of ND's 'historic' rivals

Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly says he doesn't see Michigan as one of Notre Dame's ''historic, traditional'' rivals. During his teleconference Sunday, Kelly pointed out there have been a number of years when the Fighting Irish (1-0) and Wolverines (1-0) haven't played. The two schools aren't scheduled to play again after next season because Notre Dame...

Kelly downplays Michigan as a rival

The last scheduled Notre Dame-Michigan at the Big House is Saturday. It's a big game. It didn't need any more attention. It got some Sunday. ''I really haven't seen it as one of those historic, traditional Notre Dame rivalries,'' Fighting Irish coach Brian Kelly said during a conference call with reporters. ''I've seen it as just one of those...

Game 1 Wrap Up: Central Michigan

Some of my favorite photos from yesterday. Click to embiggen. View the entire set here. Now, on to the recap... "This is all about winning a championship. And if we get satisfied (with) one effort, then...you know, we're not going to win it." -Brady Hoke, post-game. The day went as planned. Invite an inferior MAC...

Brian Kelly: Michigan not a ‘historic’ or ‘traditional’ rivalry for Notre Dame

2014 marks the final matchup between Michigan and Notre Dame for the foreseeable future as the Irish’s agreement with the ACC is scheduled to begin the following season. In fact 2015 will be the first time since 2001 and only the fourth time since 1984 that the two teams wouldn’t meet during the regular season. It was everything you could ask for when it came to an out of conference...
