As if the sting of a last second loss to the Clemson Tigers in the Chick-fil-A Bowl was not enough, the fans of the LSU Tigers were just dealt some more bad news. Having already announced his decision to leave LSU to enter the 2013 NFL Draft, linebacker Kevin Minter became the first of what could turn out to be a handful of Tigers to declare for early entry in April’s upcoming NFL Draft. He will be joined by safety Eric Reid, cornerback Tharold Simon, running back Spencer Ware and punter Brad Wing. All have formally declared their intention to leave LSU early and enter the 2013 NFL Draft. It is a big blow to the Tigers’ defense, as they will lose at least three standout players on that side of the ball heading into next season. Reid and Minter both were AP second-team All-America selections. Simon was a starter who had four interceptions this season. In case you needed proof, Minter recorded 19 tackles in the loss to Clemson on New Year’s Eve. He led the team with 130 for the season...

Tyrann Mathieu: I abused myself through marijuana

Tyrann Mathieu was once the most exciting player in college football, but his promising career went downhill quickly after he was kicked off LSU’s football team following a series of positive drug tests. Mathieu decided to remain at LSU rather than transfer to another school. His plan was to rejoin LSU’s team next season, but those plans were derailed by an October marijuana...

LSU says safety Eric Reid will enter the NFL draft, making him at least the second defensive starter to leave the Tigers. Reid, a junior whose decision was announced Friday, joins middle linebacker Kevin Minter, who led LSU with 130 tackles, including 15 tackles for losses, in his junior season. Reid and Minter both were named AP second-team All-America this season. Reid finished...

LSU linebacker Kevin Minter declares for NFL

LSU junior linebacker Kevin Minter announced yesterday that he would forgo his senior season and head to the NFL. “It’s been an honor to play at LSU under Coach Les Miles and Coach (defensive coordinator John)  Chavis,” Minter said in a phone interview. “They helped me get where I am now. I’ll always bleed purple and gold. “I was surprised at how fast it happened this...

A day after losing Minter to Draft, LSU loses four more

One day after linebacker Kevin Minter announced that he was headed to the NFL draft, four other Tigers followed the same path. Safety Eric Reid and cornerback Tharold Simon got the ball rolling, and running back and punter Brad Wing followed suit as the restructuring of the LSU roster gained an early head of steam. No need to fear Tigers fans, I am pretty sure Les Miles already has...

2013 NFL Draft: LSU Loses Defensive Linemen Mingo, Montgomery, and Logan to NFL

The mass exodus from LSU has continued, though this time, the players declaring aren't unexpected. After having six players declare already, including an under-used running back and a punter, three defensive linemen leaving for the NFL from LSU shouldn't be much of a surprise. Despite all three (maybe Logan the least of them) not playing as dominant as expected in the...

Reid Declares for Draft

LSU confirmed reports that junior safety Eric Reid will forego his senior season and declare for the NFL Draft.

2013 NFL Draft: LSU Adds Another Defensive Junior to Draft in Tharold Simon

LSU's defense wasn't loaded with seniors this year, likely a reason they struggled in multiple SEC games this year and seemed unpolished and inconsistent. However, even after losing Morris Claiborne to the draft and Tyrann Mathieu to suspension/removal from the team, the secondary wasn't viewed as potentially having a big let down, with safety Eric Reid and cornerback...

LSU’s Minter will forgo senior season and enter draft

When you watch film, Kevin MInter pops out the screen because he is probably one of the best linebackers in the entire country.  The junior inside backer has made up his mind, after LSU made a strong push to keep him. LSU All-American linebacker Kevin Minter confirmed to NOLA.com Thursday that he will enter the 2013 NFL Draft and bypass his senior season. Minter had a breakout season...

Minter to enter draft

LSU linebacker Kevin Minter announced Thursday that he will skip his final year of eligibility to enter the NFL draft. After the dominant season that Minter had for the Tigers, this should come as no surprise to the LSU faithful everywhere.
