Manti Te’o may have been the talk of the Notre Dame Pro Day, but tight end Tyler Eifert stole the show in South Bend. The 6’5’’, 250-pound tight end shined in his individual workouts, which were directed and run by a Bengals tight end coach.Eifert did not drop a single pass, and was superb in his route running, essentially solidifying himself as the No. 1 tight end available in April’s 2013 NFL Draft. An NFL source told National Football Post Eifert ran like “he was floating on air.” Eifert showed great endurance during his grueling work out, and showed off his widely underrated strength during his showcase in front of NFL scouts.Eifert will never be one of the league’s top pass blockers, but showed during his Pro Day that he has efficient enough strength to be adequate in the run game.Sources also told National Football Post that they would be “shocked if he wasn’t selected in the top twenty picks.”Senior linebacker Manti Te’o improved on his 4.82 40-yard dash at the Combine with multiple runs in the 4.7 range. Te’o also showed the ability to be more than just a two-down linebacker at the next level with a good showing in the individual positional drills.Te’o showed good movement in the lower body, with more fluidity in his hips than previously shown on tape or at the Combine. Te’o’s Pro Day workout proved that he is what most draft experts have said all along; he’s a player that should b drafted between picks 20 and 50.It’s worth noting that safety Zeke Motta followed up his poor showing at the Combine with another poor showing at the Notre Dame Pro Day.Note: Credit to National Football Post for source and statistical information revealed throughout this article.
