The Alabama Crimson Tide are the defending national champions and there are two words to describe them this season … Nick Saban. Saban has established himself as THE coach in college football and he does so by reloading yearly.
The Tide return junior quarterback A.J. McCarron, who didn’t have a spectacular season last year, but when you play quarterback on a Nick Saban team you don’t have to. McCarron did all the Tide needed him to do to propel them to a 12-1 season and that national championship. He threw for 2634 yards and 16 touchdowns, which doesn’t sound like a lot, but in the defense first SEC apparently it was enough.
McCarron could rely on running back Trent Richardson last season, but this year Richardson is gone and junior Eddie Lacy will have to step up. Lacy rushed for 674 yards and 7 touchdowns last season. That’s another thing Saban does well, find running backs. One year a back may have a spectacular season and the next year he may not even see the...

Alabama head coach NIck Saban knows what he's up against in Michigan's offensive since their offensive coordinator Al Borges coached at Auburn several years ago.
Head Coach: Nick Saban (55-11 , entering 6th season) The Story: The receptor of one of the biggest breaks in recent college football memory, Alabama worked their way into a rematch against the only team they lost to in the regular season. Unworthy? No! They were very worthy. In fact, they took advantage of the [...]
Alabama coach Nick Saban has won two national titles since 2009 and three in less than a decade.
Saban says he should quit if he starts focusing on what he's done. He has been locked in this week preparing the defending champion and second-ranked Crimson Tide for their game against No. 8 Michigan on Saturday night in Cowboys Stadium.

Now that the media has fed on the Penn State scandal for the past year after building up Joe Paterno as a saint on the sidelines for the past 40 years, some are naturally moving on to other subjects to deify.
With Alabama coming off of two National Championships in the past three years, it shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that Nick Saban is the next coach to get glowing coverage...
Although it comes twice as often as Christmas, it seems to be the Alabama football depth chart from Nick Saban is anticipated even more than the arrival of St. Nick. Each year, once in late August and once before the bowl game, Bama issues a depth chart. It’s only good until the next game is played, but still it is interesting.

The Michigan Wolverines have reclaimed their confidence, something Alabama did shortly after Nick Saban landed in Tuscaloosa and started winning national titles.

Alabama lacks depth in its secondary, which is no secret as coach Nick Saban has hammered that home all offseason. But that means younger and more inexperienced players will see playing time, which is OK as long as they understand the scheme. We'll see if that's so on Saturday.
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) -- Near the steps of Schembechler Hall, Alabama coach Nick Saban is holding the BCS' national championship trophy with an ear-to-ear grin seldom seen on or off the field.
The home of Michigan football is adorned with pieces of paper with pictures, such as the one with Saban, and Crimson Tide logos along with messages such as "Beat Bama" and "...
If there's any question how vital overall team balance is to success on the college football field, last season's final UPS Team Performance Index may have somehow quantified it.
Alabama and LSU, the two schools which played in January's BCS national title game and finished 1-2 in the last AP Top 25 poll, also wound up topping the UPS TPI when all was said and done....
Best Gameday Signs of 2011 Lee Corso and the boys are strolling on over to Jerry World to give it the good ol' college try. All three on the Gameday set are still alive, so this season is starting off hotter than the Fire Craig James campaign (Johnny Drama, VICTORY!). Other than the sure bet that Corso is going to say something inappropriate (did we ever find that State...

Defense wins championships. That has been the saying in the SEC for a long time, and has been further exemplified by past national champions such as Alabama, LSU, Florida, and Auburn. Take last year, where half of the top ten in total defense were from the Southeastern Conference, with Alabama, LSU, and South Carolina completing the top three. The tenacious defenses give the teams...
