HGT:  5-9        WGT:  175 YR:    JR         POS:   S Pros: Possesses exceptional instincts Good straight line speed along with closing speed Excellent lateral foot quickness Exhibits balance and body control Competitor Productive Good motor Excellent ball skills Displays a since of urgency Good overall physicality Consistently attacks ball in both Run and Pass game, ability to dislodge ball from ball carrier Looks to support in the Box versus Run Transitions quickly out of pedal while in off coverage Properly drives upon the tackle (Trust his eyes) Delivers a good initial blow upon the tackle Gets vertical quickly in Return game Exceptional speed off perimeter while blitzing (Stays tight)  Cons: Short in length Thin build Needs to add overall bulk along with power Lacks strength at LOS while in Press Tends to open gate at LOS while in Press(Footwork) Consistently struggles to stay in Phase while in Man Coverage Character concerns Analysis: Former LSU Cornerback Tyrann Mathieu has decided to declare for the upcoming draft. I currently have Mathieu projected as a Safety/Nickel Back. Mathieu possess exceptional instincts along with big-play return ability. Mathieu does need to work on his footwork while in Man Coverage. Small in stature, Mathieu will need to add overall bulk as well as strength. Mathieu does have character issues that will be addressed during pre-draft meetings with teams. The fact of the matter is the former Heisman Trophy Candidate flashes play making ability in which I feel will enable him to get an opportunity at the next level.
PLAYERS: Tyrann Mathieu
