I usually don't link to my site like this but I'd rather not use the word openly here

  • His facebook status was set as an anti-Obama JOKE. Though I know exactly what it said, and do not wish to repeat it out of respect for him, I believe it was taken much too literally. The comment was by no means to be taken literally on any level and when he saw the reactions to his joke, he quickly changed his status to an apology, and then deleted his account.
Buck is a stand-up guy who made a momentary laps in judgment in front of the computer. I have competed against him and cheered him and his tremendous talent on for years. He is a strong christian man with a great heart and in my opinion his dismissal from the team is extraordinarily unwarranted. He has shown nothing but pure dedication to God, his family, friends and the Texas Longhorns. I fail to see how some of his teammates go out and have terrible run-ins with the law and receive 2 game suspensions, yet he establishes his right to freedom of speech, and is dismissed from the program.
Buck should be reinstated, take his punishments within the program, and continue his legacy with one more lesson learned.
    Hook 'Em!

Second chances are for parolees. Strong Christians love everyone, Burnette should know that. He plays football with blacks, and I just hope he wouldn't say that about one of his teammates. This facet of his personal racist upbringing has leaked, and he is paying for the seeds of hate that people like him still sow. I hope you really do convert to Christianity someday. Good riddance Burnette, I don't want you playing for my school.
      • strong christian? hmm. he is to be forgiven. however, when you walk in the spirit, you always know God is love.
  • google it. it's pretty offensive
  • I won't quote it directly, but after Obama was elected, he posted a statement saying it was time to start hunting for a certain type of animal, one used as a euphanism for an African-American. His parents must be so proud.
  • He said "send out the Hunters cause there's a RACIST-SLUR in the White House"

Buck Burnette is spewing VIOLENT racism.
Telling people with guns to go after a president is treason. I hope the Secret Service pays him a visit.

It's sad how Christians will make excuses for non-Christian behavior.

His apology makes reference to growing up with this behavior in his small town. I googled his hometown and it is Wimberly, TX. Way to brand Wimberly as a racist breeding ground.

  • Buck's an idiot
  • wow. bring up religion when dude said sorry and it was a lapse in judgment (even if for humor).
So his statement is worse than cedric benson, terrell brown, or ricky williams?
Shoot, Matt Jones was busted for Cocain and he's still playing every sunday with the Jags for millions.
dude, I don't get it. Obama is 1/2 Black (kenya + kansas, raised in hawaii and Indonesia ) = he's more islander than anything.
To not forgive someone who does repent isn't very christian like either.

Now how can the ShortHorns get rid of somebody named Buck Burnett. That's anti-Texas
  • this guy's a d*****bag. can i call HIM that? how about in-bred white trash that needs to lift a book before saying anything about anyone besides himself and crappy family and crappy home state. is that ok to say? someone should drop a pile of history and sociology books on this guy's head. some evolutionary theory would cap it off nicely. and the sole guy who supported him and competed with him needs the same...a real life. maybe the two should get married. peace, i'll be going back to the rents' home in alpine, nj, where there aren't these idiots. just money-hungry plutocrats. god did bless america! with greedy, money-hungry, power-hungry, white, atheist, imperialist, apathetic, psychopathic politicians, businessmen and plutocrats.
  • so which is it? the "n" word or an animal? either way....as a white gay woman, i have been called all sorts of names....offensive but not illegal. the kid made an error in judgement about an off "colored' statement and gets kicked off his team and loses all he has ever worked for....IRONICALLY, Obama gets voted in as the leader of our nation...eventhough he called reverend wright his mentor, wrote about him in his book and sat in his church for 20 years listening to and supporting anti white, anti american garbage that spewed from his own pastors mouth....wow...can i list the rest of his "friends" and those who endorsed him? Only in this America does
obama get rewarded for bad judgement. Buck made a mistake and we all have....his punishment does not fit the violation.

Rallying the assassins deserves another punishment? Which punishment is that? Prison? By the way, Buck played for Texas - and if there's one thing you should know about Texas football, it's that Texas football doesn't mess around. Patriotism is one thing, racism another, and a threat on our leader - well, that's punishable with a slam of a cell.

BTW, janiddavis, did anyone threaten your life, or even intimate as much? If so, you might feel differently. Gay, black, racist or not, you'd be canned, too.
  • People are confusing why he got booted from the team I think. The racist comment is bad, but that would have been dealt with by suspension and education, had it been directed to someone else. However, suggesting that a group of people go kill the President-Elect is a crime, and a potential bomb for the UT program if they did not boot him on the spot for a comment that could land Buck in Federal prison for treason. People have compared his situation to other athletes who get suspended for various unlawful activities, where Buck got booted. How many of those unlawful activities of others included advocating the assassination of the future President of the United States? Have fun in federal prison Buck. Don't bend over to pick up the soap. If getting kicked off the UT footbal team is the only thing that happens to him, he should count himself lucky.
  • I notice on his facebook page he loves Jesus.....Doesn't Jesus love everybody??? I am confused Mr. Buck.
  • I thiink what he said was infact foolish! But this is America i dont think he should get the hook for a momentary lapse in judgement.I mean being in the locker room with his teammates is going to be strange enough.acward pause.....
    • iambeus
Yes, he deserves it. He even says in his apology that he "grew up on a ranch in a small town where that was a real thing," and that he needed to "grow up." This indicates that this has not been a momentary lapse in judgment; rather, his childhood mentors spewed the same garbage and he has grown to this judgment all his life. I'm just glad my Alma Mater doesn't stand for this garbage - Hook 'em Mack Brown!
  • The racist comment was one thing, but a threat to the President elect's life goes over the line. They had to dismiss him.
