I see Feliz as slick with the glove, capable of high 20's to 30's in homers, particularly playing half of his games in Citizens Bank Park, near 100 RBIs and capable of hitting in the .270's to .280's. Apparently, no less than all-time great and Hall of Fame 3rd baseman Mike Schmidt would seem to agree with my assessmnent.

Phillies trade pitcher Kendrick for Kobayashi

The Philadelphia Phillis pulled a prank on pitcher Kyle Kendrick as they told him he was being traded to Japan for Kobayashi. Kendrick doesn't recognize the name Kobayashi, and signs the papers while looking a bit confused. Check out the video to get the full effect, but basically he got punked big time by his boys.

Howard Wins Arbitration, 10 Million

This is one that the Phillies might not mind losing. Ryan Howard won his arbitration case against the Phillies, earning the 10 million he asked for, instead of the 7 million the Phillies offered. That figure ties the record given to a player in arbitration. Alfonso Soriano also won 10 million back in 2006. This is also the first arbitration case the Phillies have ever lost, and the...

Howard's Big Day

Today is Ryan Howard's arbitration hearing. Arbiters will be deciding whether the big slugger will earn 7 million or 10 million next year. We won't hear the results of today's hearing until sometime tomorrow. My prediction? Given that no player has won his arbitration case this year, the Phillies are 7-0 lifetime, and receiveing 10 million in an arbitration case would...

Ryan Howard wins arbitration!!!

Ryan Howard gets his $10 million. In my opinion, I think he deserves this money. Now I hope he goes out there and shows everyone again why he deserves the $10 mil. This guy has been awesome. Congrats Howard but don't spend it all in one place.

Phils Kendrick traded for kobayashi of the Miruama Giants in Japan

Quite possibly one of the greatest pranks of all time led by by Brett Myers including the GM, managaer, traveling secretary, his agent and local media. you have to see this video

J-Roll Responds to Beltran

You knew that Jimmy Rollins would respond, especially after Carlos Beltran mentioned the reigning NL MVP by name while making his claim that the Mets are "the team to beat". The Phillies as a team shrugged off responding to Beltran's claim, waiting for their team leader to fire back once he arrived at Spring Training.

Pat Burrell could be the key in 2008

There is an interesting article today at Philly.com by Todd Zolecki discussing Pat Burrell and his future with the Phillies. Burrell is in the final year of the $50 million dollar contract he signed back in 2003. Zolecki speculates that Burrell could be in for a big year as he looks to cash in as a free agent one last time, whether it is with the Phils or another team. Burrell...

Arbitration...Oh No!

Today (February 20th) is the day that Ryan Howard and the Philadelphia Phillies meet for an arbitration hearing to decide Howard's 2008 salary. RyHo wants $10 million while the Phils are countering with $7 million. Not that Howard isn't worth $10+ million in today's world of Major League Baseball, but I'm guessing based on the current salary structures and past values...

Pat "The Pat" Wants to Remain a Phillie

A piece in today's Philly Inquirer notes, "His contract is running out, but Burrell is hoping to stay." Things haven't been right for sometime, both in his game and in our relationship as fans with Pat. Maybe this year we can both make amends.

War of Word: Rollins vs. Beltran

Last winter/spring Jimmy Rollins called the Phillies "the team to beat". Unoriginal rip-off artist Carlos Beltran belted back this season with "To Jimmy Rollins, we are the team to beat". Now J-Roll is a bit miffed because Carlos performed plagiarism and isn't even getting a 15 game suspension from everybody's buddy Bud Selig. Naturally Rollins has a response...

A Stroll Through Fantasy Baseball History

The Baseball Lab takes a look back over the last three decades to investigate how each position has changed through the years. We've come a long way from 1980 when Mike Schmidt and Ben Oglivie were #1 and #2 rated, and my lord, have the shortstops been on a run or what.

Kelly Ripa Knows Her Phillies

I've written about Kelly Ripa on this site more than I ever wanted to, but the lady keeps giving great soundbytes when trying to talk Sports. Either Regis, or a producer, obviously provided her with the name Mike Schmidt so she could bring him up during World Series talk the other day. Watch though, as she struggles with the name and then drops an "S-Bomb" on the...

Fantasy Baseball: The Top Five NL First Basemen

With spring training underway, it's time to identify the best of the business. The first pitch will be to the National League first baseman. When evaluating the top first basemen in the game I consider their batting average, the power numbers (HRs, RBIs, SLG), and last but not least; one of the most important things at any position, their durability.
