Alabama allegations have surfaced. Just days before the Crimson Tide takes on Texas A&Manziel in the most hyped college football game of the season. Five SEC football players, including former Tide All-American D.J. Fluker, allegedly received impermissible benefits prior to completing their collegiate careers. According to a Yahoo! Sports report, former Alabama defensive end Luther Davis was an intermediary between the players and multiple NFL agents and financial advisers. The report says Davis funneled money totaling $45,500 to Fluker, Tennessee starting DE Maurice Couch, former Vols QB Tyler Bray, and former Mississippi St. players Fletcher Cox and Chad Bumphis. Fluker, the 11th pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, currently plays for the San Diego Chargers. Cox, the 12th pick overall in the ’12 Draft, plays for Chip Kelly and the Philadelphia Eagles. Bray went undrafted, but made the Kansas City Chiefs roster. These Alabama allegations come not only on the precipice of the showdown with A&M and Johnny Manziel, but also just after the news of much bigger charges against Oklahoma State is starting to sink in. It’s not just Alabama allegations, a few Southeastern Conference players are involved. However, the Tide athletic department was the swiftest, and so far the only, PR Dept to issue a response:  “We have been aware of some of the allegations in today’s story and our compliance department was looking into this situation prior to being notified that this story was actually going to be published. Our review is ongoing. We diligently educate our student-athletes on maintaining compliance with NCAA rules, and will continue to do so.” –Bill Battle, Director of Athletics, University of Alabama The Yahoo! Sports report shows benefits coming from multiple sources based on financial records and texts belonging to Davis. Yahoo has the goods on transactions between Fluker and Davis. Those goods include: money transfers, hotel stays, flights, furniture and more. The report named three NFL agents and three financial advisers involved in transactions and benefit that add up to more than 45 grand! Paul M.
