Alabama’s quest to becoming the first three-peat starts on Saturday against Virginia Tech.
It is no surprise that the Nick Saban led Crimson Tide enters the season as No. 1 in both the USA Today Coaches and AP poll but Saban has been quick to remind everyone that the focus for a historic third straight National Title begins with Virginia Tech.
Alabama and Virginia Tech will play each other in the Georgia Dome at 5:30 pm ET on Saturday (August 31) with coverage airing on ESPN and WatchESPN.
The Crimson Tide enters the game as a massive 20 point favorite against Frank Beamer’s banged up Hokies. The over/under for this game is set at 45.5 total points.
Most analysts believe that the more experienced and talented Alabama will give Virginia Tech a heaping taste of it’s ground game. Does Virginia Tech have any means of stopping Alabama from covering the nearly three touchdown spread? Or is it Roll Tide onward to a Sept. 14 match-up against Texas A&M?

An establishment Tuscaloosa, Ala. has combined arguably one of most well-known pieces of art from the Renaissance and two of the most-beloved figures in Alabama Crimson Tide football lore. By all indications, Alabama coach Nick Saban is a physically fit individual. If you didn’t know how old he was, you would have trouble guessing 61 just by looking at him. While that is not surprising considering he is the best coach in college football, it becomes a bit more puzzling when you hear about […]
Very early in the Nick Saban era at Alabama – like before the beginning of his first spring practice – we learned that Saban does not use a depth chart, at least not in the very public way that some coaches do. We did learn that on the Monday prior to the opening game of the season that he will give reporters a depth chart. Another depth chart will be issued prior to a bowl game.
Nick Saban got candid recently for a GQ article, and that honesty may end up getting him a few more harshly titled nicknames like maniac pathological or lunatic.
Saban has a manic drive to win, and that drive was put on display during a recent GQ article in which the leader of Crimson Tide Nation, was upset that the hoopla involved in the buildup to the BCS title game against LSU...
Alabama fans love their Crimson Tide football, and the one thing they may love more than the team, is the coach of the team.

(Eds: With AP Photos.) By TIM DAHLBERG AP Sports Columnist There's not a lot to like about it, maybe because it seems so inevitable and Nick Saban always seems so crabby.
Root for Alabama to win a third straight national title in football? Please, let's just get it done and move on to 2014 when Saban will still be crabby but at least the BCS will be no more.
Winning the national championship is every college football coach’s goal at the start of each season — whether realistic or not. But the guy who has won the last two national titles apparently doesn’t like how time consuming it can be.
Nick Saban has led Alabama to back-to-back national titles and hoisted three of the last four crystal balls in college football. But while...
Roll Tide … Does this sound familiar? It should on the premise that every year, Alabama seems to be in the picture as the team to beat or at least present as a legitimate contender for a national championship. Nick Saban has redefined the college football landscape as he has become the dominant figure of […]The post The Good, The Bad And The Ugly: The 2013 Alabama Crimson Tide...
In recent years up-tempo offenses have spread like wildfire across college football. Oregon and Auburn get a lot of credit for bringing it to major college football and coaches like Will Muschamp and Nick Saban have spoken about the difficulties in stopping it.
Now Kirk Herbstreit believes that defenses will go to extremes to slow down these high powered offenses:
Now that the latest bit of Johnny Football drama has been settled, the college football season can start with five days of games to satisfy fans who have been craving competition since Nick Saban was raising a crystal football in south Florida and trying to look as if he was having a good time.
The season starts, as always, with more mismatches than marquee games, but that's...
