For many, National Signing Day comes and goes without the opportunity to spill any ink on a National Letter of Intent. Such was the case for Redlands East Valley wide receiver Anthony Grayson II. Admittedly, it was tough. "I felt like I was down, like 'what could I have did better?' (after) seeing a lot of my friends (sign with schools)," he said.   Grayson II never gave up on his dream and now he is headed to Fresno State to join the reigning Mountain West Conference champions as a preferred walk-on, it was announced last week. Last season, Grayson totaled 568 yards and made 30 catches in just 7 games last season. He began his season with a bang with six catches for 155 yards and a touchdown against Mission Viejo. He had to sit out the first four games of the 2013 season because of CIF transfer rules after transferring from Rancho Cucamonga in the middle of the 2012 season. Transferring and consequently having to sit out cost him a lot of playing time in varsity games but he has no regrets. "I felt like I was in the right spot at the right time," Grayson said. The relationship between Grayson and the Bulldogs goes back to his time at Rancho Cucamonga and continued during his days at REV. The Bulldogs faced USC in the Las Vegas Bowl last December. He didn't know that would be his next school, but he watched intently and admitted he was "kind of down" when they lost. Fresno State put up huge numbers offensively last season led by quarterback Derek Carr, who's expected to be a first round pick in next month's NFL Draft. The Bulldogs were third in the nation in total offense in 2013 with Carr leading the country in passing. Even with the loss of Carr and NFL prospect wide receiver Davante Adams, the opportunity of being a part of such a high-powered attack is appealing to Grayson II. But it's just not about getting there, he'll compete for playing time and the opportunity to, hopefully, earn a scholarship. "It's never over," Grayson said. "The challenge is always there. The challenge (has been there) since freshman year for everything. (I) just got to keep working hard."
