Rich Rod’s road back to college football glory is on track again at Arizona.
Rodriguez left West Virginia in 2007 to succeed Michigan Wolverine’s head coach Lloyd Carr. The exit didn’t sit well with West Virginia and resulted in a lawsuit with the school that required Michigan to pay $2.5 million and Rodriguez to pay $1.5 million.
Rodriguez didn’t have much success replacing Lloyd Carr at Michigan. He tried to install his fast-paced option offense at the school and ended up finishing his first season with a 3 – 9 record followed by 5 -6 and a 7 – 5 seasons. Rodriguez was subsequently let go after his third season in another tumultuous ending.
This season Rodriguez was hired at Arizona by former Mississippi State AD Greg Byrne. Byrne’s other hire as an AD was Dan Mullen.
