Found January 10, 2012 on NorthWest Sports Beat:
Defense may win championships, but NOT TV ratings.

Alabama's national championship win drew the lowest television ratings in the BCS' 14-year history.

An overnight rating of 13.8.

That was a dip from the previous all-time low, a 14.3 rating set in 2002 by Miami and Nebraska.

Now can we finally get our playoff system or a +1 or something? PLEASE BCS PLEASE?

Nick Saban & Les Miles, thanks for putting on such a great show.

I heard LSU was still in the Superdome today trying to score on their Demons. BRUTAL.

Hey it is afterall NAWLINS...

Saban interested in Schottenheimer?

Brian Schottenheimer was let go as offensive coordinator of the Jets, but Nick Saban reportedly is interested in speaking to him about Alabama's vacancy.

LSU's Miles wins Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year

LSU coach Les Miles has already come out a winner on the day of the BCS championship game. Miles won the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year award for the Football Bowl Subdivision after leading his top-ranked Tigers to a perfect regular-season record and an SEC championship. LSU plays No. 2 Alabama for the BCS national title on Monday night. The award is given to the coach who best...

The spoils of victory? For Les Miles, about $5.7 million.

An LSU win over Alabama in tonight's BCS Championship Game would trigger two different clauses in Les Miles' contract that would increase his salary over the next six years, potentially making him the highest paid coach in the SEC and pushing to the brink of the $5 Million Club. Miles is currently the fourth-highest paid coach in the country at $3.75 million per year, not...

Saban: This Alabama championship team special

Alabama coach Nick Saban might have enjoyed this national championship a little bit more. Certainly, the celebratory dousing was more to his liking.

Miles misses out on pay boost with loss (AP)

Les Miles wound up one victory short of a hefty pay raise. The LSU coach already has a lucrative contract that pays him about $3.75 million a year and that runs through the 2017 season, thanks to a three-year extension he received last January. Clearly, he won't be hurting for cash. But he did miss out on a salary increase of nearly $1 million.

Alabama dominates LSU for BCS Championship

Welcome to the Fallout: BCS title game edition with Jeremy Shelley, A.J. McCarron, Nick Saban, and more.

All Over But the Crying.   Alabama defeats LSU for the BCS championship 21-0. (ESPN) Going along with the crowd.  AP writers avoid a potential split "national championship" by voting Alabama no. 1 in the final writers poll of the season. (ESPN) Redemption Song. 01/10 (Alabama) Quickie

"They are a hateful bunch." That is Nick Saban describing his defense. What an appropriately colorful way to put it, after Bama's D shut out LSU to power the Tide to another national title. It is an undisputed result from a highly disputable process. These were the two best teams -- Oklahoma State fans might weakly protest, but down deep they know that their Cowboys...

Les Miles Stuck with Jordan Jefferson Over Jarrett Lee Because of His Mobility

Jarrett Lee was LSU’s leading passer during the season, throwing for 1,306 yards, 14 touchdowns and three interceptions, but he did not see the field in the National Championship Game. Lee struggled in the November 5th win over Alabama, getting pulled after going 3/7 for 24 yards and two interceptions. Fellow senior quarterback Jordan Jefferson finished the game going 6-10 for...

Column: 'Every Game Counts' - until it doesn't

(Eds: With AP Photos.) By JIM LITKE AP Sports Columnist The same people who said LSU was the best team in college football all season had to concede that Alabama was the far better team Monday night. So who's really No. 1? That depends on whether you buy into the Bowl Championship Series' version of a national title. Remember that after you strip away the pseudo-science...

There's No Doubt Who's No. 1: Alabama Is National Champions

When the final whistle blew back on November 5 ending the first LSU-Alabama showdown, I couldn’t help but get one nauseating, gut-wrenching, pit out of my stomach. No, it had nothing to do with the Mexican food I'd eaten earlier that night, but instead was the idea that I’d seen the best team in college football that night… and seen them lose. Above all, I couldn...

Well, here we are. The 2011 college football season is all over but the shoutin' this evening in New Orleans. Can the LSU Tigers manage a second win over Alabama and complete one of the greatest seasons in college football history? Will the Crimson Tide get their revenge? The Crystal Ball Run writers make their picks. Kevin McGuire: OK, so we have a rematch. Guess what,...
