See how Bob Stoops voted below. As already pointed out by USA Today and Fox Sports, something appeared real funny about how the Big 12 coaches voted in the final poll. Votes by the Big 12 coaches for Oklahoma and Northern Illinois varied greatly from the teams' final rankings in the USA Today Coaches Poll Top 25.  As noted by Steve Berkowitz of USA Today, “Among the 59 voters in the coaches poll, Oklahoma's Bob Stoops, Baylor's Art Briles, Iowa State's Paul Rhoads and West Virginia's Dana Holgorsen all either voted the Sooners No. 6 and/or the Mid-American Conference champion Huskies No. 24 in Sunday's final regular-season balloting. Stoops did both. No other voter had Oklahoma higher than eighth, and only one, Michigan State's Mark Dantonio, had the Sooners that high .” Of course, the obvious reason for their voting variation from the rest is an attempt to get a BCS Bowl berth as well as a $17 million check for Oklahoma and the Big 12 conference. Want one of these “Kirk Herbstreit Can Bite Me” NIU Orange Bowl shirts? Good luck finding one. Your best bet is to order one directly from Smack ($17.99), the t-shirt brand just waiting to slap a funny phrase on a shirt for college students. The NIU bookstore sold out of its Herbstreit shirts within hours, according to Chicago’s Northwest Herald. Two of the shirts eventually...

No. 13 Oklahoma 71, North Texas 68

Nicole Griffin turned it on in the second half for Oklahoma, and it turned out the 13th ranked Sooners needed every bit of her 15 points and nine rebounds to survive a spirited North Texas squad, defeating the Mean Green 71-68 on Thursday night. Griffin scored only three points in the first 20 minutes of play but set the tone after the break, going 9 for 10 from the free-throw line...

'Noles pull away from upstart Huskies

Senior fullback Lonnie Pryor, voted the game's outstanding player, ran for a career-high 134 yards and two scores in only five carries for Florida State. Senior EJ Manuel threw for 291 yards. The victory was a consolation prize for the No. 13...

Stoops squaring off with former pupil Sumlin in Cotton Bowl

Bob Stoops will match wits with one of his former lieutenants in the Cotton Bowl on Jan. 4, but it’s not the first time he’s encountered one of his former assistants. Kevin Sumlin is in his first season as Texas A&M’s head coach after spending four years as head coach for the Houston Cougars. Sumlin, who served as a Sooners assistant from 2003 to 2007, might be the...
