Video: Spurrier Frustrated Over Turnovers

Steve Spurrier saw any form of a special season for his South Carolina Gamecocks come to an end in The Swamp on Saturday. After a 44-11 loss at the hands of the Gators, Spurrier was understandably upset over all of the turnovers his team gave up in the contest and that led to quick points for a Florida offense that couldn't do a lot in the first half. Spurrier talks about it here.

On The Record: Steve Spurrier and Will Muschamp

On Wednesday, both Steve Spurrier and Will Muschamp spoke about the upcoming clash between the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Florida Gators. Take a listen:Steve Spurrier... Will Muschamp...

Steve Spurrier Returns Home To The Swamp

Back in August, Sweetheart and I wrote an article about Steve Spurrier. This article explained how the OBC has put his spread offensive philosophies behind him for the good of the university. This Saturday will test Spurriers' new coaching style against his old team. Spurrier might bench DT Quarles for throwing punch

COLUMBIA, S.C.-- South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier says he'll discipline defensive tackle Kelcy Quarles for punching a player at LSU last week. Spurrier said Wednesday the discipline would probably involve missing game time. A video on YouTube shows Quarles punching LSU center P.J. Lonergan in the facemask after a first-quarter play in the Tigers' 23-21 victory. Spurrier...

Spurrier's teams past, present now grind it out

GAINESVILLE, Fla. The cultural shift taking place is certainly not unprecedented. In some ways what Will Muschamp is doing is what Steve Spurrier did 22 years ago to the Florida football program. When Spurrier returned to Gainesville to take over his alma mater, the Gators had been a run-oriented, in-your-face defense kind of program for much of the previous decade under coaches...

Spurrier wants Gamecocks focused on No. 3 Florida

Steve Spurrier knows the only thing South Carolina lost last week was a football game. He hopes his players understand that, too. Spurrier said the ninth-ranked Gamecocks (6-1, 4-1 Southeastern Conference) can still achieve all their goals, chief among them taking control of the SEC's Eastern Division this week when they play at No. 3 Florida (6-0, 5-0). Saturday's winner...

A familiar question back in the mix for USC

South Carolina's offense struggled enough Saturday where Steve Spurrier had to make a quarterback change. After the game, Spurrier wasn't sure who his starter would be this weekend. A question that wasn't expected this season is back in the mix for the Gamecocks.

The Florida Gators host the South Carolina Gamecocks today in what could amount to a battle for control of the SEC East. I’ll keep this short because the die-hards among you have already joined the tailgate of champions. The weather is pretty close to perfect and Fall is here. That makes for a great day of football, not only in Gainesville, but across the SEC. As you await kickoff...

No. 3 Florida Upends No. 9 South Carolina 44-11 to Remain Undefeated

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Jeff Driskel threw four touchdown passes - three of them after turnovers - and No. 3 Florida matched its win total from last season with a 44-11 drubbing of ninth-ranked South Carolina on Saturday. The Gators avenged consecutive losses to the Gamecocks, including one two years ago that ended with Steve Spurrier and his players celebrating...

S. Carolina's Lattimore may not start

South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore did not practice Wednesday because of a bruised hip and coach Steve Spurrier says his junior star might not start Saturday against No. 3 Florida. Spurrier had said Lattimore was running well earlier in the week, but the injury kept him out of Wednesday's workout. Lattimore arrived at practice let and watched from the sidelines. If...

Gators don't want Gamecocks celebrating in Swamp

The last time South Carolina played at Florida, the Gamecocks celebrated a division title. Coach Steve Spurrier got doused and carried to midfield. Players hooted and hollered on the sideline, in the locker room and on the flight home. The Gators remember it vividly. ''That's a feeling you'll never forget,'' safety Josh Evans said. No doubt, third-ranked...
