Bob Stoops congratulating Johnny Manziel after Cotton Bowl.
It's been a little over four months since Oklahoma got it's clock cleaned in the Cotton Bowl by Texas A&M and a certain Mr. Football. You would think that would be enough to make the Sooners' head football coach acknowledge the superiority of the SEC over the Big 12*. Well, apparently it hasn't. At a Sooner Caravan stop in Tulsa, Stoops went on a rant where he denied that the SEC was better than the Big 12.
"So you're listening to a lot of propaganda that gets fed out to you,"
he said. "You're more than smart enough to figure it out. Again, you can
look at the top two, three, four, five, six teams, and you can look at
the bottom six, seven, eight, whatever they are. How well are they all
"What'd we (the Big 12) have, eight of 10 teams in bowl games this year? Again, you figure it all out."
Actually, the Big 12 had nine out of te...

The SEC has won 7 National Championships in a row, but Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops feels the conference is overrated as a whole.
The summer caravans are in full swing with coaches making the rounds like revival preachers. They speak to this group and that almost nightly in the hopes of firing up the fan base before summer practice begins.
Usually the speeches dont amount to much -- a lot of we couldnt do it without the fans platitudes and boilerplate answers to questions most coaches can see coming from the...
Teams from the Southeastern Conference have won the last seven national titles. That pretty much ends any argument about which conference is the best in college football.
Well, Bob Stoops likes to argue.
The Oklahoma coach was feeling his oats this week at a fan caravan appearance in Tulsa. Despite evidence to the contrary, he's not willing to concede the title of best conference...
Oklahoma head football coach Bob Stoops is tired of hearing about the South Eastern Conference being the best conference college football.
Stoops won’t deny that the top half of the SEC is dominant and stout with the likes of Alabama, LSU, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Texas A&M.
After that though, Stoops isn’t buying the SEC as a power, and recently took the time...
Bob Stoops, the head football coach for the Oklahoma Sooners, got a lot of attention recently with some comments he made about the SEC. In a nutshell he called the conference overrated and over-hyped. He inferred that the conference as whole is not all that the talking heads in the media want us to believe it is. It certainly is not the best.
That honor goes to the Big 12--and...
So Coach Bob Stoops isn’t buying the SEC dominance just because they have won the last seven national championships. He points out the bottom six are not doing anything special and the conference as a whole hasn’t created a huge gap when compared to the other major conferences.
He is right about the SEC as a whole, as they have had coaching turnover and bad losses to the...
The Southeastern Conference has long been regarded as the premier league in college football. And for good reason. The league has won seven straight national championships and just had a whopping 63 players selected in the NFL Draft. As dominant as it may seem, Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops doesn't seem too impressed. During a recent caravan stop, Stoops reportedly called the...
There is no doubting that Oklahoma's Bob Stoops is a great coach, but there is simply no denying how dominant the SEC has been recently, although Stoops is trying.
It was bound to happen. Somebody asked Alabama head football coach Nick Saban about Oklahoma HC Bob Stoops' comments about the SEC. Needless to say, it was exactly what you expected it to be.
Saban on Stoop's quotes about SEC: I’ve got more important things to do than sit around and read what Bob Stoops has to say about anything.

Johnny Manziel was the best quarterback in college football and the best player in the nation last year at Texas A&M, or so his Heisman Trophy says. Manziel became the first freshman ever to take home to coveted Heisman, which has everyone excited about what the future could hold for Johnny Football. According to one NFL.com scout, it may not be much when it comes time for him...
The biggest, meanest tacklers in the SEC couldn't get to Johnny Manziel last season, but sometimes his own popularity can.
That's what the Texas A&M quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner told NBCDFW5 at a charity golf tournament Monday in Plano.
Despite all the good that's come from his celebrity, Manziel said the negative attention he's received does affect...
