((ht: courier-journal.com)) So...what do you think about disgraced former Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino taking over for Joker Phillips at Kentucky? Yeah, us too. The beginnings of the silly coaching rumor season kicked off in earnest this week when Phillips was fired after the season ends and Idaho fired their coach on the heels of a 1-8 start. The Carousel started picking up steam this morning when the Louisville Courier-Journal published a story quoting Petrino's father, Bobby Petrino Sr as saying "I just know this, that he's interested in Kentucky. He wants to stay in the SEC. That was his life's goal was to go to the SEC." Yeah, no duh. And it doesn't excuse his moronic behavior at Arkansas. Read the Courier-Journal story RIGHT HERE This all being said; Yahoo Sports reported Sunday that Kentucky isn't interested. Yet. Quite honestly, we believe that Petrino is interested in the job. BUT....we also believe if he holds out, h...

What if the Illini replaced Tim Beckman with Bobby Petrino?

It’s no secret that Illinois Fighting Illini fans weren’t the happiest with the hire of Tim Beckman as college football coach. And Athletic Director Mike Thomas didn’t exactly “win the news conference” when Beckman was introduced either. Beckman didn’t come off as extremely polished and ready for prime time in that presser, so Illini Nation remains restless. The 2-7 start...

Bobby Petrino interested in coaching Kentucky, according to father.

Disgraced former Arkansas head football coach Bobby Petrino has been on the wish list of many Kentucky to replace Wildcat HC Joker Phillips even before Phillips was fired earlier this week. Now it seems the feeling is mutual. Petrino's father in an interview with The Louisville Courier-Journal says his son is interested in the Wildcats' HC job. “I just know this, that...

Unfortunately, there will be no college football picks column this week (I'll go ahead and post my picks at the bottom here), but I did want to tip everyone off on one quick thing. How Vanderbilt got Phillips fired

When a game is lost by a margin which evokes the word historic you know that something is going to come from it. So it was this week when Kentucky coach Joker Phillips was fired shortly after his Wildcats lost 40-0 to the Commodores. That loss, by the way, was the worst by Kentucky to Vanderbilt since 1916. Which would make the whole thing very historic indeed.

Washington Reopens Recruitment

Joker Phillips and his staff at Kentucky will not be back in the Commonwealth next football season. As a result of the pending coaching change, some committed prospects are beginning to look at other options for their college football futures. Hinds Community College defensive tackle David Washington is now back on the open market, but he may not be available for long.

No Coaches On Hot Seat In Tuscaloosa

Our predictions continue to be nearly flawless, although our weekly upset specials have been about as special as “Joker Phillips Appreciation Day” in Lexington. Last week we thought the mighty Vanderbilt Commodores would defeat the Wildcats, but who would have dreamed a 40-0 pasting that sent Cats Coach Phillips packing.

Bobby Petrino’s father says his son is ‘interested’ in Kentucky, the school he once called ‘Slapdicks’

As you all know, Bobby Petrino does not have a job. And according to The Courier-Journal’s Adam Himmelsbach who spoke to Petrino’s father, he wants a job. And he wants one bad. So bad, that his father says that he is actually interested in the open Kentucky job that Joker Phillips was just thrown out of. Now for the most part, the Kentucky football program is one that pursues...
