No Guts, No Glory:
As you all know, Bobby Petrino does not have a job. And according to The Courier-Journal’s Adam Himmelsbach who spoke to Petrino’s father, he wants a job. And he wants one bad.
So bad, that his father says that he is actually interested in the open Kentucky job that Joker Phillips was just thrown out of.
Now for the most part, the Kentucky football program is one that pursues coaches, not the other way around. But when a man’s father says he needs a job, he needs a job.
“I know he wants a job; he needs a job,” Petrino Sr. said by telephone Wednesday. “He told me, ‘I need a job, Dad.’ I said, ‘Well, you must still have some money. You made 31/2 million dollars.’ And he said, ‘Yeah, I do. It’s not the money.’ He just misses coaching so much.”
“I just know this, that he’s interested in Kentucky,” the father said. “He wants to stay in the SEC. That was his life’s goal was to go to the SEC.”
That’s all well and good until you begin to think about Petrino’s prior coaching

The first major domino in college football's coaching carousel fell on Sunday, as Kentucky's Joker Phillips was fired after a 12-23 mark through...
Joker Phillips addressed the media on Tuesday for the first time since it was announced that he would not be back as the Wildcats' coach next season.
Suddenly, the Kentucky Wildcats football program are daily headline makers…but not for necessarily good reasons. In Joker Phillips weekly teleconference (and bless the man for actually doing one considering the circumstances), he spoke about his being fired, how his players are dealing with it, and what his next step will likely be. My guess is he’s able to latch on as a wide...
When a game is lost by a margin which evokes the word historic you know that something is going to come from it. So it was this week when Kentucky coach Joker Phillips was fired shortly after his Wildcats lost 40-0 to the Commodores. That loss, by the way, was the worst by Kentucky to Vanderbilt since 1916. Which would make the whole thing very historic indeed.
Joker Phillips and his staff at Kentucky will not be back in the Commonwealth next football season. As a result of the pending coaching change, some committed prospects are beginning to look at other options for their college football futures. Hinds Community College defensive tackle David Washington is now back on the open market, but he may not be available for long.
Our predictions continue to be nearly flawless, although our weekly upset specials have been about as special as “Joker Phillips Appreciation Day” in Lexington. Last week we thought the mighty Vanderbilt Commodores would defeat the Wildcats, but who would have dreamed a 40-0 pasting that sent Cats Coach Phillips packing.
As soon as Kentucky fired head coach Joker Phillips on Sunday, it was only hours before Florida offensive coordinator Brent Pease was thrown onto the list of rumored names for the job. Pease served as the offensive coordinator at Kentucky from 2001-02 and has spoken highly of the job at multiple times this season. However, he doesn’t want to talk about it or become a distraction to his team.
So...what do you think about disgraced former Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino taking over for Joker Phillips at Kentucky?
Yeah, us too.
The beginnings of the silly coaching rumor season kicked off in earnest this week when Phillips was fired after the season ends and Idaho fired their coach on the heels of a 1-8 start.
