The very popular Australian LSU Tiger punter’s college career is likely over for good.
Wing, who was suspended for the Tigers first game of the season for apparently the same reason, has been suspended from the team for the Chick-Fil-A Bowl against Clemson on December 31st.
According to one source in the athletic department, Wing’s suspension is related to a failed drug test. Wing was suspended for LSU’s opener against North Texas, also a result of a failed drug test, the source said.
Wing is a draft eligible sophomore and won’t have any worries about being drafted. His averages this season are higher than last season.
2012 – 44.8 yards per punt
2011 – 44.4 yards per punt
Wing also had 19 out of 59 punts go for more than 50 yards.
Wing earned the love of LSU fans through his exceptional punting length and ability to land the ball inside the 10 yard line consistently. Also, the taunting of Florida on a spectacular fake punt that he executed on his own.
Wing is also the holder on PATs and FGs and will be replaced by junior Seth Fruge.
