The college football season hasn’t even started, and Notre Dame is already facing difficult decisions for the upcoming year. After their 2012 starting QB, Everett Golston, was suspended for undisclosed violations, coach Brian Kelly was left trying to figure out how to salvage the upcoming season. After all, Golston was the QB who led the unassuming Irish to the national title game against Alabama last season.
USA Today is reporting that Coach Kelly has announced that senior QB Tommy Rees will be the starter for the Aug 31st season opener against Temple. Kelly justified his decision by saying:
“I didn’t name him the starter for all 13 games. I named him the starter for Temple. My expectation is he will take the job and continue to lead our football team. He was the most experienced. Like many of you out there, I love football. I can't begin to express how glad I am that the game is getting closer and closer to a return. I'm so happy for it that when I turned on my computer and saw the video of South Carolina's Jadaveon Clowney and another player flipping a sled I thought 'cool!'
The clip has made its way around the web already, but not...
Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly says a new contract for him is imminent.
Kelly says the basic deal for a contract has been in place since December, when the Irish were preparing for the BCS title game against Alabama.

Notre Dame’s football independence, which allows the school to pick and choose exactly which teams it wants to play each year, often leads to some extremely difficult schedules. I felt empty, I had no emotion, and I was completely disconnected.
I shook it off as just "real life" creeping into my blog...

It wouldn’t be Notre Dame football without off-the-field drama. Especially at the quarterback position. And with starting quarterback Everett Golson kicked out of school due to failing to live up to academic standards, ND football saw as much drama as a season of Friday Night Lights.
