BIG EAST DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK Preston Brown • So. • LB • Louisville • Cincinnati, Ohio Brown registered seven tackles and had two sacks to key Louisville’s 27-10 win against Syracuse, moving the Cardinals into a tie for second place in the BIG EAST standings. Brown led a Cardinal defense that limited the Orange to season lows in points and yards (246) and didn’t yield a touchdown until there was 1:31 left in the game. BIG EAST SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK Chris Philpott • Sr. • K • Louisville • Atlanta, Ga. Philpott scored nine points in Louisville’s 27-10 win against Syracuse, making field goals from 44 and 32 yards and connecting on all three of his PAT attempts. Philpott, who leads Louisville in scoring with 39 points, has made six of his last seven field goal attempts in the past three games and has made 8 of 12 on the season.

Strong Discusses Saturday's Road Game at No. 24/21 WVU

Louisville head coach Charlie Strong and senior linebacker Dexter Heyman met with reporters on Monday to preview this week's BIG EAST road game at No. 21 West Virginia. The Cardinals and Mountaineers will kick off on Saturday at noon ET at Milan Puskar Stadium in a game that will be televised regionally by BIG EAST Network and locally by WBNA-TV.

Strong concerned about recruiting impact

For now, the Big 12 will proceed in its rebuilding efforts without Louisville. While the Big 12 could come calling for UofL in the near future, Charlie Strong’s immediate concern about remaining in a depleted Big East is recruiting.
