Found January 02, 2013 on NFL Trade Rumors:
Executives from the Browns are in Arizona to interview Oregon head coach Chip Kelly on Friday, according to ESPN. The report may be unsubstantiated, though, according to Jeff McLane. McLane says that ESPN was sourcing other reports and that the original report can’t be found. Jason La Canfora tweeted last night that Browns president Joe Banner was in Arizona and added that the visit was “primarily to make a pitch for Chip Kelly.” The Browns don’t have a general manager yet and if the team was to land Kelly, whatever general manager they bring in would be tied to the head coach. Cleveland would reportedly be willing to offer Kelly some amount of control over personnel decisions, but they are considering other options as well. Kelly’s up-tempo style of offense has worked well in the college game, but some wonder whether or not it’d translate well to the NFL.
