North Carolina senior quarterback Bryn Renner is out for the season after suffering a shoulder injury Saturday against N.C. State, according to a report from Inside Carolina on Tuesday morning. Renner, a fifth-year senior, will close out his college career ranked No. 3 in completions, attempts and passing yards in North Carolina history. The 6’2″ quarterback may be done with his football career entirely — before the injury, CBSsports.com had Renner listed as the 17th best prospect at his position, and his draft stock is only trending downward after a serious shoulder injury. He will need to perform exceptionally well at the combine to regain the attention of NFL coaches and scouts. Meanwhile, North Carolina is trying to claw its way back to bowl eligibility, needing to win three of its next four games against Virginia, Pittsburgh, Old Dominion and Duke to do so.
