Ohio State had a lot to play for last fall: Making people forget a year of NCAA investigations and innuendo, rebounding from the worst season in more than a century and living up to the expectations of a new coaching staff. They more than succeeded with a stunning 12-0 turnaround. Unlike those Buckeyes, however, the 2013 version is allowed to compete for a Big Ten championship and even a national title. A postseason ban is no longer in force for crimes and misdemeanors committed under the regime of deposed coach Jim Tressel. The first step is Saturday's game against Buffalo, a rebuilding team hoping to make a good showing while the second-ranked Buckeyes are aiming to serve notice that they're a worthy contender to break the Southeastern Conference's seven-year stranglehold on No. 1. ''Coach (Urban) Meyer came in here and he went 12-0,'' safety C.J. Barnett said. ''Last year we had a chip on our shoulder. We were kind of hunting, but now we...

Braxton Miller narrowly avoids being blown to bits (Video)

Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Braxton Miller narrowly avoided being blown to bits by a rogue missile - if this video is to be taken at face value. No word yet who fired the missile, although all indications seem to point to "that school up north". H/T Sports Grid. Visit us at holdoutsports.com and follow us on Twitter @HoldoutSports.

It’s back! Predictions for the 2013 college football season

It may have seemed so far away back in January when Alabama head coach Nick Saban raised that crystal football once again following the Crimson Tide’s victory over Notre Dame, but the 2013-2014 college football season has finally arrived. With the countdown now down to just a few more hours before the likes of South Carolina and North Carolina hit the field, let’s take a look...

The 2013 Ohio State Buckeyes: Braxton Miller, Probation Is Over And Columbus Is Ready To Celebrate

By Dr. Jeff A. Glenn / @jagadelic As a longtime Buckeye, I’ve seen the fans of our boys in Columbus get ridiculously amped up for football season. The ’75 team had Heisman Trophy winning Archie Griffin returning and the ’95 team with Eddie George, Terry Glenn and Orlando Pace stirred everyone’s hearts. The ’06 team […]The post The 2013 Ohio State Buckeyes: Probation Is...

Video: Braxton Miller Throws Perfect 47-yard Touchdown Pass To Devin Smith On First Drive

Ohio State is off to a hot start in 2013 — Braxton Miller connected with Devin Smith for a 47-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring Saturday afternoon. Urban Meyer and his Ohio State team don’t look like they will mess around against the Buffalo Bulls, and this offense has some firepower. This play was on the first Ohio State’s first possession of the game: A strike by Braxton...

Braxton Miller Throws His Hat Officially Into Heisman Watch On First Play Of The Season

Ohio State’s quarterback Braxton Miller is an easy top 5 (at least) candidate to win the Heisman Trophy this year, and he got off to a fairly good start. On his first play from scrimmage, Braxton connected with Devin Smith on a 47-yard touchdown pass. Enjoy the viodeo of the beautiful strike above. And, we are off… [BIG 12] Article found on: Next Impulse Sports

Ohio State beats the Bulls and Cramps

Braxton Miller had to overcome cramps to lead Ohio State to a win over the University at Buffalo.  The Buckeyes were far from sharp today, but there were some bright spots: Jordan Hall had a very nice game running for 2 TDs and 159 yards and that experienced Offensive Line were solid.  While the Bulls have aspirations of competing for a MAC Conference Title, Ohio State has to...

Video: Braxton Miller connects on deep touchdown on first drive of season

On his very drive of the year, star Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller launched a 47-yard touchdown pass to Devin Smith. Wow.

Bulls Head into Columbus for Ultimate Challenge

OSU quarterback Braxton Miller is one of the Heisman favorites heading into the season (photo importsweb.com) COLUMBUS, OH - This what college football is all about. As I made my way from the Tuttle Parking Garage across from Ohio Stadium, the atmosphere here in Columbus in anticipation for Ohio State’s home opener against the Buffalo Bulls was unlike anything I’ve ever been...

Evaluating Braxton Miller’s Heisman odds

This college football season will be a treat.  Fans will get to watch the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, perhaps the most dominant and physically impressive defensive player of the last decade, a quarterback many assume will go first in the 2014 NFL Draft, and a two-time defending BCS National Champion that brings back both their starting quarterback and a running back who rushed...

Buckeyes resort to trickery on PATs vs. Buffalo

Urban Meyer shook up things on conversions early in No. 2 Ohio State's game against Buffalo on Saturday. After Braxton Miller threw a 47-yard TD pass to Devin Smith on the Buckeyes' first possession, Ohio State came out in an unbalanced line. Most of the players were flanked to the left with two receivers slotted to the right and the longsnapper, holder and kicker in the...

Ohio State 40 Buffalo 20: Buckeyes coast in opener

Urban Meyer improved his record as head football coach at Ohio State to 13-0 as his Buckeyes kicked off the season with a 40-20 victory over Buffalo. Ohio State entered the season ranked second in the country and looked the part early on. On the offense’s first drive of the game Heisman hopeful Braxton Miller connected with an open Devin Smith for a 47 yard touchdown strike. Following...

Buckeyes hang on to beat Bulls

Second-ranked Ohio State got off to a quick start. After that, it was a bit scary. Braxton Miller threw two touchdown passes before fighting leg cramps and Jordan Hall ran for two more scores to lead the Buckeyes to a 40-20 victory over Buffalo on Saturday in the season opener for both teams. The Buckeyes, striving for a crisper start from coach Urban Meyer's debut in 2012...

Buckeyes win opener while showing their youth on defense

In the season opener, you expect an inferior opponent and a lack of focus to come into play at some point for the heavy favorite. The only problem was, against the Buffalo Bulls (4-8 last year), the Buckeyes cut the engines a bit after cruising out to a 23-0 first quarter lead. The offense looked phenomenal, frankly unstoppable, to start. But, some careless turnovers, some key leaders...

Fast Start Propels Buckeyes To Opening Win

Ohio State exploded out of the blocks with 23 first-quarter points and then put things on cruise control, capturing a 40-20 victory against Buffalo in the 2013 season opener. The Buckeyes totaled 460 yards of offense, including a career-high 159 yards rushing by senior running back Jordan Hall. QB Braxton Miller added 178 yards and two TDs through the air as well as 77 yards on the ground.

CFB Preview Week: The Heisman

Suck my baby dick, Red Grange! Before we hand out our Heisman Awards, I want to briefly discuss last year's winner: Juan Futbol Americana.  OK, so as of me typing this up, the Aggies have not announced whether they are going to play him on Saturday against Rice.  I get that.  They want the NCAA to make a decision which is not their strong suit.  Let's assume that they...
