The Michigan State Spartans know all too well what it is like playing in close games in 2012. Entering last night’s Buffalo Wild Wings with a record of just 6-6, things could have played out quite differently for Sparty this season with a few better bounces. Alas, that was not the case for MSU this past season, having lost five of its six games by a total of just 13 points, but last night was finally different.
Michigan State dropped a game to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish by a score of 20-3. They then went on to lose games by a total of 1 point, 2 points, three points twice and four points another time. They had a few close wins as well, but their losses were heartbreaking.
It may sound ignorant to say this about a 6-6 team, but the Spartans could have played in a BCS Bowl Game this season with a bit of better luck, or a little more experience on the field. Especially in the Big 10 conference, where the best two teams were bowl ineligible.
