When the Oklahoma State Cowboys started the 2012 college football season, they planned to do so with freshman quarterback. Brandon Weeden was gone, and the Cowboys would have to turn to a quarterback who would be nearly 10 years younger than last season’s quarterback who led the Cowboys to a huge Fiesta Bowl victory over the Stanford Cardinals. Had Oklahoma State been able to defeat the Iowa State Cyclones last year – like they did on Saturday – they would have been playing for a BCS National Championship. But alas, it was not meant to be, and the Cowboys entered 2012 in a bit of a rebuilding mode. Head coach Mike Gundy was going to go with a freshman quarterback. He just didn’t know that he was going to have to keep switching between the two through the first six games. The Cowboys are 4-2 this year, including a 2-1 record in the Big 12 conference.
