Louisville Card Game:
Charlie Strong is one University of Louisville football coach who apparently won’t wind up at Arkansas. No getting behind a podium at a press conference, demeaning himself and squealing, “Whoo, pig, sooie!” like former UofL coaches Bobby Petrino and John L. Smith. That image just doesn’t register. Not anytime soon anyway. Hopefully never for his sake.Strong was asked the question by nationally syndicated talk show host Jim Rome Wednesday, about whether there was any substance to rumors he was talking to the Arkansas athletic officials. And he responded, answering the question straight on.“You don’t just walk away when something – you don’t walk away when you are building a program,” he said. “I’m just not cut like that”Good for him, good for Louisville. Finally, a football coach who appears to appreciate, actually recognize what he has at the University of Louisville: The total support of the community, the solid financial backing of the athletic department, and an opportunity to take

The University of Louisville football team is just five games into the season but already coach Charlie Strong is rumored as a candidate for other jobs next season. Strong was asked about the rumors on a national radio show and then responded to local reporters after Wednesday’s practice.
Charlie Strong has brought in a quarterback in each of the last three recruiting class. Teddy Brigdewater in 2011, Will Gardner 2012 and now Kyle Bolin in 2013. I didn’t expect the quarterback position to be a focus for Louisville’s 2014 class, but Drew Barker, a 6-foot-3 pro-style quarterback from Conner High School in Burlington, Kentucky holds an offer from the Cards.
Shortly after Charlie Strong’s interview yesterday afternoon on the Jim Rome radio show, CBS Sports College Football Insider Jeremy Fowler caught up with Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich to get his thoughts about his head coach being mentioned as a possible candidate for other jobs.
“I will match anybody’s salary,” Jurich tells CBSSports.com. “I will match anybody...
University of Louisville football coach Charlie Strong and his staff are using an open week to try and help the Cardinals improve. Even with a 5-0 record, Strong said the team is working on fundamentals and trying to get better.
Louisville recruit and native James Quick will take an unofficial visit to Ohio State this weekend as the Buckeyes take on Nebraska.
Quick, a 4-star wide receiver from Louisville Trinity High School has been the top target for Charlie Strong’s 2013 recruiting class for nearly two years. Quick’s most recent list includes Louisville, Ohio State, Oregon, Tennessee and Kentucky...
Louisville head coach Charlie Strong was a guest this afternoon on the Jim Rome show, a nationally syndicated sports talk radio program.
As you could expect, Rome asked Strong about the Southern Miss game and how the weather impacted the outcome and also about Teddy Bridgewater’s progression as a quarterback.
The best questions came later in the interview when Strong was asked...
If you haven’t gotten the chance to listen to Charlie Strong’s interview on the Jim Rome show, here is the audio in its entirety. The question about the Arkansas job received the most attention, but I recommend listening to the full interview if you can. I honestly think that was Charlie’s best interview I’ve heard since he’s been at Louisville. He was very relaxed and genuine.
Charlie Strong will be a guest on the Jim Rome radio show tomorrow afternoon at 12:35 Eastern Standard Time. Louisville football S.I.D., Rocco Gasparro shared the news earlier today via his Twitter account.
Rather you love Jim Rome or hate him; I recommend that you listen to the show tomorrow. His show is one of the more popular sports talk radio programs in the country. This...
It’s amazing what one bad choice will net you. The Arkansas Razorbacks were supposed to challenge for the SEC West and maybe, maybe, throw their name in the ring for a possible National Championship run. However, no one could have foreseen the fiasco with Petrino playing out the way it did and it certainly wasn’t figured that, as bad of a choice as an interim he was initially...

On Wednesday’s show we discussed Charlie Strong’s comments on the Jim Rome show. Rob Dauster, a college basketball writer for SI.com and CollegeBasketballTalk.NBCSports.com joined me to talk about this year’s Louisville team.
We’ll be at BJ’s...
